I know you're car is not running yet. I want to know your best E.T. in prior builds/dsms.

I don't have time slips and I"m not one to bench race but the fastest car I have owned to date was my gt14 1g that I used to have with dsmlink and if it's worth anything to you it would keep up with a locals high ten second TA. Again though no time slip so that's why my profile is blank

Call up Jay @ Jay racing he's the man to deal with. You have to be careful too because the t-stat housing is aluminum but that pipe where your lower hose hooks up to is steel so you need a steel -16an fitting not a aluminum like you finf everyone selling.
Thanks guys. So you're saying buy an aluminum fitting for the tsat and a steel one for the pipe.

Also what type of radiator hose are you planning on running? Does that come with female ends?

What up Sean? Looking good man. One thing though, you should have cut that tstat housing back as close to the cap as you could have. You'll probably have issues getting the hoses to not kink. I did the same thing, and fought the same probelms. I cut my housing back to where the square part is by the overflow nipple. I also had to mill the housing on an angle to make it point up more.

Yeah I wooped all 3 of the Del guys with my big 16g on pump gas (black ta, red ta, and a silver ss camaro)...those guys were like mid to low 12s at best on a hell of a pass.

Rob had the older 3rd gen trans am with wheelie bars, lives by lawnside. That was a 10 sec car on motor, mid 9s on the bottle. We use to mess around and he would give me 5 cars, and I would try to outrun him.

Man do I miss those days.

Cant wait to see the whip come together!

I'm not mounting my rad in the stock location I'm going to put it in the opening of the front support not behind it if that makes any sense. Those ears that it sits on stock are getting cut and it will be bolted to the frame. That should give me enough room especialy using a 45* fitting at both the rad and the tstat.

That would explain why I would walk some of the guys and there was one or two that gave me the business all the time

I missed out on the group but for these but found a guy selling a set local so my engine internals are now complete. I will probably take them to the machine shop tomorrow because I have to one get my acl race bears fitted for the pin in the bottom and two these are 21mm wrist pin setup and my HD's are 22mm. No problem though. Cake work for my machinist

Enjoy

Yeah, I'm using a scirocco rad sitting on the core support also. It's gonna throw off the angle, trust me. I had to mill the back of mine to get it to line up decently. I actually have 2 of them I was tweaking and switching back and forth trying to get it perfect. I'm even using Pro-Lite hose and its a bitch. Just a heads up man. I know the little things like that can be a pain in the ass.

I hear ya. Well I'll just have to wait and see what it looks like and if I have to I'll adjust that neck. I didn't weld the fittings onto the rad yet(mainly because I haven't bought my rad yet lol) so I might be able to have it welded to the rad on an angle facing toward the fander to help with the hose not kinking. I'm going with pro classic lines so they will have more give them SS too. Thanks for the heads up though

Got my fx1 pro's in today The shell is SUPOSED to be here tomorrow but we'll see these shippers are killing me.

Looking good. How do the seats feel to you. Does the seating position feel a little high to you?

Hey now lol. The last shell was good for a track car but I needed a do it all car. This is def that car.

As for the rods yeah they are beefy but hopefully it's not to much of a pita to get them to clear the block.

No not at all but I did not use the sliders that they sell you with the brackets which make the seat def higher. Maybe you want to throw around the idea of not using those because I saw the problem you were having in your build thread.

Your gonna have to machine the main caps, and shave down the side of the block at the bottom of the piston wall. Just bolt them to the crank just like you would regularly with the pistons and turn the crank. And when they are on their way up they will hit the bottom on the wall, RIGHT where the wall ends. Then just mark where it hits on each side. Then take a die grinder and shave it down till it dont hit. It sounds harder then it is.

And those rods are nice. Their just like BMEs. They are WAY better then grodens. I have BMEs and they look exactly like those. Those will hold more then grodens as well.

I'm glad you broke that down but trust me I have done so much reading and talking to machine shops about techniques on how to get these to fit my head could explode lol. In a nut shell though I will be doing what you said and your right it won't be that bad. I already wanted to grind a little bit where the girdle comes close to the block edges anyway so it's not like the block was going to go without alterations.

Casey gave me a great deal on the shell. I picked it up for $2k but the killer was shipping was $900 from the west coast Oh well still worth every penny now that she's here

Wow I always wondered how much shipping would be for a car. Especialy from the west coast, not as many rust buckets over there.

Does the charge depend on the size or type of vehicle? How long did it take from the time they picked it up to when they dropped it off?

About a week and a half. As far as size I don't know. I would think any sport compact or regular size car would be the same but mine cost a little extra because it was non operational. They said industry standard was to charge from 100-150 more for non operational cars that can still roll and probably even more if it can't roll. I say this much I would do it again in a second. If you find a shell or car you really want no matter where it is and you can afford to add another 1k worst case onto the price of the car hop on it. My .02

Yeah Ive been thinking about it. You can find some gems on the other side of the country. But I was always weary of the price for shipment. It's something to think about in the future.
