well im pretty new to this whole racing stuff. my friend had just challenged me to a race against his honda civic del sol... he claims its vtec, but im skeptical about it... but anywho... we wants to race me from a light at this str8... its a section marked by 2 lights... measuring exactly to 1/4 mile... since im just begging to get into cars and racing... i just need some info on how to launch my car... i mean i've been reading on how u guys dump ur clutch at like various rpm ranges... but u guys have GST's or GSX's and i only have a 1g 1.8L which produces an amazing 92hp... so i need some info... please help me

Man, Dont race on the street. Ever loose your licenes and get 12 points? Thats the penalty in Ohio. Learn to drive it, then take it to the track and work that del sol over, Got any mods?

try launching at 3k rpms. since you dont't have a turbo, im not sure, but try it anyway. it works when i race AT THE TRACK, though, not on the streets!

you're going to have to launch high, really high, like 5 or 6k rpms. I don't think it will really matter in a 1.8 though like you said a whopping 92 hp.

The 1.8l dsm's are slower than sh!t, man. I hate to tell you that. I had a 1.5l mirage that had 92 hp. I test was thinking about selling it and buying a 1.8l eclipse but the eclipse never felt as responsive as the mirage. It had NO acceleration. You WILL get ur @ss handed to you by the del sol, no contest. If you really want to race, find yourself a turbo dsm. Oh, and take what is a lot of people's advice, dont race on the street. Save it for the track. I'm all for some occasional spirited driving but dont get stupid.

Damn, try and be a little more blunt next time.

I have a 93 Eclipse 2.0 GS, what RPMs should I launch in?

I wanted to be a d!ck and say 4328rpm but I restrained myself. Go to a drag strip and see what works best, its the safest way to do it. Since you are NA and probably not making that much power unless you are spraying try starting at 3k and working your way up a couple hundred RPM each time till you think it feels fastest(which is why I recommend a strip because your ass-o-meter is probably needing to be calibrated).

Also FYI its RPM not RPMs think about what it means.

Intead of goin to a track go to a big wide open empty parkin lot and practice ur launchs there being it has 92 hp ur rpms shud be in the 4k's because i doubt u will have much well spin wit that amount of hp
Later-

i have an eagle talon 92, 2, A/T non-turbo, should i do some launching too if somebody wanna race me on stop lights?:p
