Disappointing night

Boy am I bummed. I waited all week to hit the track tonight. Got the car all tuned up and running real nice. Get to the track... I never got one clean run in. I think my alternator is on the outs. I was done by 8:30-9PM. I noticed on a pull yesterday while tuning it sputtered hard through 3rd... almost like it was way too rich. Didn't think much of it. Get to the track and 5 out of the 6 runs my car kept sputtering. Almost didn't start in the staging lanes and the lights kept on dimming if I let her idle too long. Seemed to really cut out at the upper rpms. On the last run it sputtered in 1st through 3rd but in 4th it came alive and pulled fine until the end. Does that make any sense? Datalogger shows battery is sometimes at 13.1-13.4, but if it idles too long or I turn on the headlights, it drops down to 12.4. Drove home fine though. We are thinking bad alternator or at least on the outs... anyone else have ideas?

Anyway, my best run of the night came on 21psi with bad shifting and a horrible 1.86 60', going [email protected]. Not bad, but no where near what I was hoping for. There is an "Import vs. Export" on Sunday. I am going to hopefully replace the alt tomorrow and make sure all is in working order and try to make it Sunday to run some better times and mabe see if I can compete.

On one bright note, the trans I rebuilt held up nicely. All gears shift nice and sweet. Except for my one run without hesitation (of course), I hit every gear hard and fast. it is a treat to shift the car again. To bad the car had issues.

wow.. 12.6.. id be happy with that with my 2g. which car did you use that night? the 1g or the 2g?

That was the 1G. the 2G is no longer raced as I need a reliable car since I am always messing with the 1G.

Don't get me wrong... 12.6 is alright, but I added a 20G turbo (among other things) so I expected more. I spent the whole week tuning and was all set for some good times. I guess I shouldn't be totally upset as I was able to run decent with the car running like absolute crap.

Sorry about your bad luck.

I understand how dissapointing it is. The last 4 times I've planned to race it's been rained out. Good luck finding the problem.

Tell me about it. 3 weeks ago no racing since the the injectors I needed were back ordered. 2 weeks ago it rained so no racing. This past week this crap with the alternator. Now, this week it is supposed to rain again! I don't ask for much... all I want is 11s this year
