Anywho, i'm glad your car is coming along, Tom. Wish me luck in building mine. It should be done in a about a year.
Ahhh

Same problem I had with my 132k mile 7 bolt. Then it spun a bearing

Best of luck to both of you

I think i'm just a little late lol. Is this the build you hit me up aboaut a while ago? I never heard anything about it so I just figured that you bought one already built. Looks clean. I don't think people got it though you should come over and show them again and put it in my car lol . I still have to get my hands on long block parts as I bought my shell and turbo and intake setup first with this build and then wil build my engine around them. I did it the other way with my 420a build and ended up SOL because I had a car with a built motor down to bolts and nuts but the compression was too high for what I wanted to do in the end and the trans wasn't gonna hold up to what I wanted either so this time I'm gonna figure out the power adders and supporting mods I want to run based on my goals then build a motor and trans that can take it

No, the build never happened. I had several people interested in coming, but decided to work ahead (like I always do) and get the engine assembled and ready to go. Hopefully I'll never have to prospect a build like that again I'm still kicking myself in the ass from not picking up that hood of yours Anyway, goodluck with whatever project you decide to pick up now.

Lol what kind of spool up are you expecting on that hx-52 with a stroker? I know it looked like bigladys friend was spooling pretty late in the power band.

Na biglady's friends car didn't look too bad but I'm not really to concerned about full spool as this is a drag car that will see the street every blue moon for shits and giggles. I mean I have no interior a kirkey seat and a 10 point cage so you you really can't worry about things that dd's and street cars have to worry about. It's a trade off.

Question

Headgasket is 100%:

It didn't leave as much a residue as I had thought with the copper spray:

Makes me think about running a Stock H/g with Copper spray...
How did you first torque and when did you re-torque the head down?

I believe I explained how I torqued it earlier in the thread. Inside out, 30-60-85 and retorque after a few heat cycles.

Well, life got a little hectic and I haven't been able to fire the car up for about 3 weeks. I plan on changing the oil on her and starting her up this Thursday The car/motor currently has about 250 miles since the build and still has a retarded charging problem. I still suspect a faulty autozone alternator, so an OEM one will be sourced soon and swapped. Just in time for some springtime racing

Good to hear! I was getting worried there for a while - you disappeared and the talks of possibly selling again.

I have the materials to make a sign for you

Hah. Pay for sign materials and get a free car! no seriously, depending on finance, I may have to let the talon go anyway. I'll be asking 10-12k, but with this market I'm sure the car won't be selling for a long time

I turned the car on the other day after changing the oil to some fresh NDSAE30 oil and drove her around the block. The weird part is the car starts and acts normal (idles/drives at 15V) then after the car gets warm the voltage dips. Again, probably due to a crappy alternator. I drove the car back up the driveway and she's sitting again. I need to source an OEM alternator soon!

5+ months of slumber!

my talon = snowboard rack

operating table, even cleaned up more than it was haha

working on my n00baru!

I had to push the damn car out of the garage because it had no battery

Man all this work and you might sell it!?
Well its really nice and I'm sure I'll be scoping out this thread for more details whenever I need to rebuild my motor. There's a lot of good information in here and I love the step by step rebuild thing you have going on.
Good luck with it.
Will you be at the Shootout?
