I hope we can all agree that external wastegates function the same as internal actuator. 10 psi yields closed wastegate. 11psi wastegate starts to open. but barely. at 14psi it is clearly open but still not by much. it takes a full 20psi before its fully open.

This is because wastegates have a spring in them. as the spring is compressed with boost it takes more boost to open it farther and farther.

so your statemnet that the wastegate will be wide open at boost is not correct. it only goes wide open during momentary over boost.

Lets say you have a 15psi gate. at 14psi the gate will not be open. at 15psi it will be barely open. just enough really to bleed enough exhaust to control the boost at 15psi. the wastegate isnt fully open for max flow till you see 25psi at the cannister. problem is you are trying to run 15psi boost. so it will never be open that far except for momentary boost spikes.

mow what happens when you run 30psi on a 15psi spring? same thing really at 29psi the wastegate will not be open. doesnt open till 30psi. and it wont be fully open till the boost is at 45psi since the wastegate is now being "fooled" by bleeding pressure off.
Remeber that there is exhaust pushing against the gate.

My dad thought the same thing saying my internal wastgate was defective. It took 20 psi to open it with an air compressor. When on the car it took only 13psi to open fully because of the exhaust blowing against it.

That looks a million times better than the Blitz kit, IMHO. Sorry if you were partial to the Blitz, but that is a look that has never really done anything for me. Glad to see the mechanical side of things are coming along well too.

Are people seriously doubting that this will work?!?!?! If this doesnt work then neither will the turbos on a 6.4 powerstroke(they work).

Diesel and Gasoline motors exhaust energies are totally different in the scale.

A healthy discussion is a good thing.

But they still need a certain amount of air/DIESEL to run, and make a certain amount of power.

Diesel exhaust is alot slower and alot colder . If it works on a diesel it DEFINATELY works on a gasser. Much more energy to tap. I agree that a HEALTHY discussion is an excellent thing.

Which is why if oem manufacturers use them and it works for them, then why shouldnt ours work.

I have yet to post in this because thers already alot of clutter but are you worried about torque causing clearance issues with the radiator? It looks like a mighty tight squeeze between there

Im sure you have solid motor mounts etc but I wouldnt be surprised if shit starts breaking really fast. Its not a matter of IF but WHEN

What sucks for me is I can't seem to get my pos 16g setup tuned so I would never have any hope of tuning something like that . *curses own car*

I stayed home from work today. Not feeling too well.

I still need to fab up an exhaust for the car before I start it, so I guess I can go do that right now...

Looking good Paul & I thought our engine bays were cramped from factory

I'm liking the OEM goodness on the new front bumper though hope thats not a CF lip with the drop your running

You going to run it with that screen on the Turbonetics turbo? The only thing that will prevent being sucked in is small children & animals

Thanks, Daren. Yeah, it's extremely tight for space in there.

It's the ABS plastic lip from Mach V. Though, I have a good feeling that the car won't be able to get out of my driveway now. With the lip, it actually sits about an inch lower than the Blitz bumper did. Not good, because I used to scrape a small amount with the Blitz... I'll ptobably have to at least raise up the front suspension a bit to compensate.

I have to run that baby filtering screen until I relocate my fuse box and BOV's... again... Otherwise, there's no room for a 4" pipe or an element.
