Do you have the silencer / baffle that came with the exhaust? If so, put that in and argue with them.

Yea thats how it is, ill look it up in my sgi book tomorrow for the specifics. having aftermarket stuff makes it a pita unless u know the right ppl haha.

Muffler - leaking, missing, patched, not oem or eqivalent.
- holes other then by the manufacturer
- path affixed other then by welding
Then under class A vehicles in the begining subsection it states: the vehicle shall have a muffler that effectively reduces combustion noise

I cant believe this thread is still kicking!
I have had similar problems trying to saftey my eclipse in the past without the factory exhaust. Shouldnt be a problem now though i know a few guys that will always over look exbausts as long as the system is intact and not freakishly loud ( meaning a silencer would suffice) .
Excuse the typo's im on my phone

Scott get out of our thread.

And no, not gonna have the car out for a couple weeks at least. Waiting for a new diaphragm for my fuel pressure regulator, then try and track down a boost leak, and get it ready for Race School in Maniotba in may.

Give us MB guys a shout if you are in the Winnipeg area. I'm assuming auto x race school?

So i swapped out the Megan muffler for a dynomaxVT muffler. Quieted it down a bit, at least got rid of a bit of the drone.

Car will be out in a few weeks after my exams are finished and i get my new brakes installed.

I will be getting in late the night of May 4th, then racing May 5th and 6th, and leaving right after the session on the evening of the 6th.

Also, What ever happened to the days of the Manitoba guys making the trip to Saskatoon one weekend in the summer for some street legal racing? Would be great to see that again (and have more than 1-2 dsm's at the track at any given time)

Cool. I'll see if I can't make it out.

Yeah those were fun times, Been ages sicne we were there. However never once did any Sask guys ever come to MB. Good to hear you are making a trek out here. We used to take Chris' car out there a few times, David had his 2g there once as well, I never had my 1g there, but I did have my Sunbird there in 04, Ran 13's on all motor with that car it was later that winter that I got my 1g.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...0-04/SIR01.jpg

My car went under a 3 year build from 07-'10, and now those of us that used to come out all the time are all fathers. I'll be lucky if I make it to the track more than once this year. Would love to go back for another road trip someday.

Well I leave for Gimli tomorrow morning, then its registration, tech, and get ready for two days of racing / instruction. After all this I think I will apply for my competition license so its easier for me to participate with a few guys from here for ChumpCar racing this summer / fall.

hello guys!
I'm a new guy here, from regina also.. I've got 1990eclipse gsx and I just got installed a new engine from 1991 talon tsi, at first I thought all electrical components on the engine on the cars are the same, and I've found that the connection/wiring on the ignition coil and power transistor are different,my problem Is how to get the 1990 wiring harness match to the 1991 ignition coil and power transistor.. any answer is highly appreciated.. thank you guys!
and I want to meet you guys one of these days once I've finished my project..

The difference isnt from Eclipse to Talon, the difference is from 1990 to 1991. The 90's engine has a few major differences as compaired to the 91+. youve stumbled onto one of them being the power transistor, coil, as well as the cam position sensor, cruise control, and a few more I cant think of at the moment.

There is also the issue of the transmissions and transfer case being 22 spline, not 23 spline like the rest, as well as the 90 having less agressive cams, but having much stronger rods, throttle bodies are different as well.

Anyways, enough of the history lesson. What you should be doing is using the transistor, and coil from your 90 on this 91 engine. I am assuming you are using the 90's cam angle sensor, if not, you should be. basically, when in doubt, swap your old electrical components over unless you know they are faulty.

@greddy_1700

yah your right buddy, thanks for the info..actually i bought the 91talon last yr and its a fwd auto,so and i'd found this 90 eclipse few months ago with blown engine and some parts are missing including injectors, ignition coil, power transistor and left front drive axle..and now the engine is now on to the 90gsx,and i've found that the wiring harness are way different..
what is the best thing to do in this case?except on buying parts?

thank you very much!

The best thing to do would be to swap the harness / ecu / electronics from the 91 to the 90 so that in the future you do not have as hard of a time finding parts, however, this is a fair amount of work.

The easiest would be to find a 90 coil / transistor, but you said you dont want to buy new parts.

That really only leaves one other option, and that is hacking at your factory 1990 wiring harness to accept the new parts. This is not something I have done so I cant give you an exact answer of what to do. From what I understand there is a way to do this if you have a 1990 ignition coil and a 91-94 transistor, you may be able to do it as well with the 91 coil / transistor, but you would need to cut the wiring connectors from the 91 wiring harness, then try and figure out how to wire them to work.

Like I said, 90's are a weird creature. Read this link a few times over, hopefully it will help!

1991-1994 ecu swap into a 1990 DSM ignition wiring

thanks buddy, yah i read that article already, its a little bit hard for me co'z i don't have the 90ignition coil, right? right now i'm thinking about removing the 91 wiring harness and put to the 90eclipse,as you said so it will not hard for me to find parts in the future.. i'm still comparing the wiring diagram of 90 to 91.. thank you very much buddy! if you got some idea regarding on my project let me know, your very welcome and much appreciated.. thank you buddy!

Just know that if you use the 91 wiring harness, you will have to use all 91 electronics, including the ECU and the gauge cluster too i believe.

Well, I am going for sure, sounds like Dean and Lyndon are too.

Kon is up in the air, hopefully he makes it down as well.

I have also invited my friend Josh with his 91 Talon FWD with a 16g. He will be coming too provided he can sneak out of work around 3 on friday.

All in all sounds like there might be a decent DSM showing at SIR this friday!
