Hey Guys,
Finally got a little tuning done on my 97 GSX after the 6 bolt swap. Just did a quick 91 octane pump gas map and the car responded well. I am making 294 whp @18 psi on our Dyno Dynamics Dyno.....www.dyno.com.au which is exactly double what I made stock (145 whp) with the original motor and no mods. I would guess that is around 350 whp on a dynojet. I will be mapping both a 100 octane and 118 octane map tommorow as well as getting a little bit more aggressive on the pump gas as it is currently running at 10.1 A/F. I am pretty happy with the numbers and thankful that the JDM motor I bought seems to be in ok shape(Thanks Mike@DSS)

The car has a 55 trim BB T3/T4, Spearco FMIC, Intake, Turbonetics Manifold, Tial Wastegate, 3 inch exhaust with a high flow cat, 650cc Injectors, Bosch Motorsport 044 Pump, Hks 264/272 cams, Vishnu Cam Gears, Vishnu XEDE, and SBC boost controller for the power mods. I will post up the better gas numbers when I have them, and probably take my car to a dynojet as well to compare numbers. Lets keep this thread civil please guys. Take care fella's.

Brett.

Niec numbers.. i would have expected more , but we all know the vishnu dyno runs a little low but 300 there is Great..
im gona get my new setup soon and i need to ditch this safc and get something more tunable... Xede... i hope :) just the price is killing me :(

hows it running for you?

btw congrats, i read somewhere on nasioc about shiv driving your evo at the track and now u guys have the fastest street evo without nos... congrats...

Brett.

Hmm, so does this mean that Vishnu is going to be marketing his products to us "Salty internet nerds" (DSM owners) now?

Try DSMLink. It is cheaper and has more functionality.

Brett, have you gotten any random misfire codes, yet? Considering that you are using a 1G cam and crank angle sensor with a stock ECU, that is.

Those numbers aren't bad. On the other hand, don't worry about my opinion, I'm a salty internet nerd.

Besides, we all know that DSM's are junk that can only go fast in a straight line.

No random misfire codes as yet. I have only driven the car 200 miles so far however. Our cam gears that we make for the Evo just happen to work on the DSM, as does our XEDE computer. I will post up the race gas numbers later to see what this turbo can do at more appropriate boost levels.

Give Terry a call at Innovative Turbos. I am sure he has all the specs on this turbocharger.

Actually no it does not. My car will probably be the only DSM with an XEDE as we don't have time to make maps for these cars. If a DSM owner comes by the shop for custom tuning then we can most certainly tune their car with it.

Brett.

Ah Ok, Borg Warner turbo, not a Garrett.

Thanks for the kind words. I am very pleased with how the car is performing with a quick safe map. I still had some(1/4 tank) 11 month old 91 swill in my tank when we tuned so we keep evryhting very rich for safety. I have that gas drained now and will get a more aggresive 91 map today. Our shop Evo only makes 310-320 whp on 91 octane as well, so I will probably get close to that with a little more aggresive tune. For reference on our dyno numbers(yes it reads lower than a dynojet) a 997 Porsche 911 turbo(AWD) makes 300 whp on this dyno and a 03 Z06 Vette made 305 whp(2WD) as well. So if I can make what a Porsche turbo makes on pump gas then I will be pretty stoked.

We will see in 2 weeks who has the fastest Evo as we are competing in the SCC Evo tuner shootout. Should be a great event with 13 tuners showing up including the big names(Buschur, Pruven, Toda etc). I hope they film the event so that you guys can watch it. I will see if we can bring a video camera and record some stuff. Later guys.

Brett.

Cool numbers! i did the same exact number (294whp) with my 56trim at 17-18'ish psi (on 91octane) as well on a dyno dynamics.

Im looking forward to the shootout. If not videotaped, then you should definetly do it yourself. However I imagine SCC will want to tape it the sell it to everyone.

You don't think you can seriously compete with the likes of Buschur racing and Pruvin do you? Are you thinking that having a stroker motor will give Shiv a better shot? Dave will Embarrass you.

Cheers.

Good to see that a high level tuner doesn't know that turbos they're putting on their cars.

Exactly. thats like the knoob you always seem to meet in a parking lot. that claims they have a 9 second 600Hp civic. Then when you ask them the specifics of the turbo. The answer is alwasy Uh..Um.. my mechanic handles that stuff..LOL

Brett's probably going to tell you that Dynocomp uses the wrong ramp rate on their dyno.

Actually Terry only had 3 of these turbos left and did me a favor by selling it to me. I did not ask what turbo it was, Ben did from AGP. Does he not sell turbochargers? Anyway pleae keep this thread on topic and stop with the flame bait.

Anyway the turbo is as follows:

Innovative E 55 Ball Bearing trim, Stage 5 wheel, .63 A/R. This is not a Borg Warner turbo. Terry does not have this turbo anymore.
