well I finally bought a 1g head after much debating for my 2g. I got a good deal on the head but I wanna build it before I swap it over. I want hks 272 cams in it .. but what other internals seem to work best? HKS valve springs or crower? How high will the car rev with these or will it need a 5 angle valve job as well? There was some porting done on it and the valves were done as well as it was decked not long ago so it seems to be in good shape. What seems to be the best internal combo with 272 cams? It will most likely be on a 20g at 24 psi or so.... thanks.

The stock valvetrain will do fine at that level with a 20g and 24 PSI. If you're looking to raise the factory rev limiter and go to 8K and beyond, addressing the tranny issue will be the more important thing. But if you've got the money and are doing it, both the HKS and Crower setups seem to be proven. I'd say go with what your machinist has worked with in the past and had good results with. I went on the advice of Buschur with mine and have the Crower internals.

well I was looking to raise the rev limiter a little, mainly because I don't know what turbo I am going with. There is a good chance it would be a 20g .. but that is the smallest turbo on my list of ones to choose from. I just don't want something that's not going to spool till 5k and beyond and then have to worry about shifting again at 6500 or 7k. I thought with more agressive cams it is a given to upgrade the valve springs and retainers?? Thanks.
