Do a search for this topic and you will see a number of post covering this topic.
First, there is no increased wear from the 2.3 that can be attributed to the rod angle. The 2.3 and the 2.4l both have the same rod angle as both use the same crank and same length rod. The bad wear pattern is usually due to people running forged pistons that have slap or have been bored over too much. A good machine shop that knows what they are doing, along with not running JE pistons, will take care of this.
Second, drivibilty is increased due to the extra HP and torque at lower rpms from the stroker, especially with larger turbos. This is why a lot of guys switch to the stroker setup in order to be able to run a larger turbo and make it more streetable. The bad is that the extra torque can eat up a stock trans in a heart beat if you are doing 6k clutch drops at the dragstrip.
Third, the stroker is capable of 9k redlines (if properly built and with stronger valve springs). No one should need to rev over 9k anyway as 99% of the turbos being offered specifically for DSM will be out of there efficiency range anywhere above that.
Lastly, there is a lot of bad information floating around concerning the stroker. Most of it is from people that have never built and/or run one that has been properly set up. Believe about 2% of what you read on these internet forums. Instead call or email a shop that produces them and ask questions and/or take a look at the old Talon Digest for some good information. I believe that NABR or some other board has the digest archives for public viewing.
