If you were getting a lot of consistent knock, then yes, I imagine it would.

nope no funny noises or changes in performance..........i did adjust the power steering pulley cuz the belt was squeeking........it wasnt quite straight....other than that im in the dark........

first dsm.......was talkin and not paying attention.......had an old car before this one and it was just force of habit.......didnt even think about it til the check engine light came on......at a 1/4 of a tank.......:(

I'm not going to talk bad; everyone does it by accident once. I caught mine though at .40 cents or something like that, went into the gas station, and then promptly put $13 in.

The good knews is that yoru car probably pulled timing when you were knocking. These engines do their damndest to keep themselves from blowing up.

Sure shouldn't. I run mine on regular about half the time, since our "super" is only 91 anyway. Seems happy enough.

Meh, I'm driving the car on the highway for hours at a time, I'll just put in 87, not going to buy 93 when I'm not boosting anyways. Even with the 87, there is no knock when I'm at boost stage 1 (10 PSI).

I doubt the check engine light is related.

thanks for all the replies........i hooked it up to a 'puter and found out what the engine light was on for......filled it up too much......lil bit of gas got in the charcoal filter......no biggie just have to let it evaporate.....what a relief:D

Everone's put in regular once, shouldn't cause any real problems if you're stockish and not hitting it too hard. You should notice a serious performance loss though.

I have a related question.. there is a gas station here that sells Enhanced gas - 90 Octane - for the same price as regular. I've been using it and it seems to work fine so far, and I haven't noticed any knocking but then again I've never heard knock before and it's possible that my lifter tick could be setting off the knock sensors and retarding boost/timing anyway.

Up to what level do you think 90 octane will do until I have to start using premium?

check engine light came on again........hooked up the computer......evac pump again.......checked vacuum hoses this time......all three were off....hooked them back up and the check engine light went out.......

is it common or even possible to blow them off? Still wondering how they came off.......animal crawled up in the engine maybe?

It was probably just some little DSM engine knomes...these guys will do just about anything to make your life more miserable.;)

Good that it's nothing major. But man it even says in the owners manule PREMIUM ONLY! 91octane is the lowest you should ever put in it.

And to the guy that said he can't tell a deference he most have some 5.5:1 compression pistons or something becouse I know when I put some 89 in once just becouse we dont have 91 (87,89,93) and I was low on cash my car ran like shit and had no power at all for a week..

Yah. It also says to NOT USE GASOLINES WITH MTBE.

So all of us in Califukya have been driving to Nevada to get gas for the last decade.
