Ok im looking to buy an 2 week old 18g turbo for about $520. First off I wondering is it worth it or should I go with a big 16g later. Also it is a direct bolt on right? If so how easy is it to put it on. Finally I was wondering what all needs to be done to my car before I can put it on. As of now I just have exhaust, turbo timer and AVCR. I know I need bigger injectors and better plugs and wires. I really need help on this guys cause I don’t know if it is worth it or not.

Why would you pass on an 18G to get a B16G:confused:

The 18G is good for another 40HP or so. I would go with that. It is a direct replacement if it is in a TD05 housing. You need a new SS oil feed line.

In regards to supporting mods, it depends on what boost you want to run. In any case, I would buy some 550cc-660cc injectors, an ACT 2100 or RPS Stage II clutch too. Upgrade that DP too if you haven't done that either.

It bolts to the mani just fine but needs a new oil line and the compressor outlet has to have an adapter to fit.

I guess my real question is all that hard to install? And is the 18g worth $520? Thanx again

What kind of 18G is that and what car has it been taken from (1G/2G)?

If it's Greddy (I don't think it is for that price), you just bolt on. But you need oil feed line for sure.

It's not hard to install if you have all the adapters that you need.

its from a 2g. but im not sure if its greddy. I know he got it from turbochargers.com thou. do you think you could walk me through on how to put it on including the oil line.

If it's from 2G, then you don't need adapter from compressor housing to your stock lower pipe. Regarding the oil feed line, you can find it from many shops. The instruction is here. I think it would help.

dont listen to them, the 18g is a very good turbo, it flows 600cfm which is good for over 400 hp. The turbo looks like a 16g, but bigger internals. with this turbo you will need the install kit which is pretty cheap. Youll need to up the injectors to 550's, 255lph pump, AFC. If you dont bost it alot you can stick with the SMIC, but you will want to use a FMIC at some point. The 18G is almost the size of the 20g just "sleeper" look. My friend had made 360 hp to the wheels on pump gas with this turbo. Good luck

Man i hear no here and yes there. I really don't know if i should go for it. I always heard either go 20g or B16g. The in between just doesn't cut it for the cost. Also what do you guys think about the FP Big 28 DSM Turbo? I always wanted to get it before this 18g came along. My car is AWD so i want to get off the line and gone before anyone has a chance. So i don't want a long spool time. Here is the link for the 28 tell me what you think. http://linux.forcedperformance.net/...uct_Code=NTDSMFPBIG28&Category_Code=DSM-Turbo

the 18g or 16g wont have lag times that bother almost anybody. I would really recommend going with something bigger than a t28. I know people that have gone with the t28 and have wished that they went with a 16g or bigger instead.

I still recommend you to buy 18G for that price.

If you install 16G for few months, you will feel that you need bigger turbo. 18G is not much lag than stock but still better than 20G.

I agree that you need bigger injectors and fuel pump for your high boost. My car gets boost of 23 psi on pump gas without any problem (and no knock).

what about plugs and wires? Do i need better ones for better spark? Do you think ill have to worry about fuel cut at all?

I recommned NGK BPR7ES spark plugs. They are good and cheap. You can get any spark wires that bigger than 8 mm.

If you get bigger injectors and fuel pump, then you need fuel management and forget the fuel cut.

I had a 18g on my 2g for 3 years and it worked awsome almost no lag and the car run easy 12s @ over 110 on pump gas...bigger injectors would be nice..

People that say "don't buy an 18G" are people who never owned one to begin with and keeping passing the info along from other people who never owned them.

Why in the hell would you get a "B16G" and not get an 18G. Especially if you found one for a better price? Use your head sometimes.....

Good. For a minute there, I thought you were trying to buy the 18G that I'm interested in around here. :D

This one is a Greddy 18G, though. The only thing I don't like is that this one is oil-cooled only. Not that big a deal, I guess, but it just bothers me a little. Plus it's a bigger turbine housing, which I'm wondering how well my A/T can spool it.
