I'm going to put a TO4E turbo in my 1999 GSX and I need a really good manifold to match. Please tell me about anygreat manifold for my car. I'm also going to put HKS Hiper Exhuast System. Thanx for the people who are giving me tip and ideas and really good manifolds.

a stock 2g manifold is fine, if you want to port it you can open up the collector on the manifold to 7cm or 8cm but make sure the turbo is port matched

the EVO manifold is a little larger but the stock 2g is really fine

Yes, he'll need to get the <expletive deleted> adaptor plate to mate with our manifolds or a true Garret manifold which always seem to crack.

For the love of god... do it right and do NOT use an adapter plate.

Cough up the $450-500 for a South Florida Performance exhaust manifold... I just put one on my car after selling a Turblownetix cas manifold.

The SFP manifold is built extermely well, although it's a tubular style, it will NOT crack -- I know people who have been running them over over 2 years, without a problem.

I love mine, Spool improved as did top end..... I can't wait to see how it does at the track --- anyone wanna make any betts if my car can run for a week without something ELSE breaking? So far I've trashed a clutch, a starter, ac compressor, cam seals, timing belt, ISC........ not a good past 2 months.

btw, you can get the SFP manifold either direct from SFP (don't know there web site, you can find them in the back of turbo mag though)... or I think AGPTurbo.com stocks them.

Garret doesn’t even make a manifold that I know of. I have had a turbonetics manifold on my car for 10k miles and I haven’t had any cracking issues. My buddy has had a South Florida Performance manifold on his car going on two years no cracks either.

For the record... my turbonetix manifold had to be ported so that the openings would match the exhaust side of the head.

also had a nice crack going down the center -- had my friend at a machine shop try to work his "magic" on it -- nothign we tried could patch the crack.

Maybe mine was just a fluke, but the casting material they used was such a poor grade, that it would not take a weld.

Your right Rob I would never choose the turbonetics manifold over the SFP.

You're right... HKS only made T4 manifolds....

but notice they don't make them anymore? As a friend explained to me, T4s are becomeing old technology, and HKS stopped making the manifolds because they saw that....... Supposidly some really cool turbo products are going to be coming out in the next 12 months... and I'm not talking about hybrid turbos....

Cooler than dual ball bearing turbos? That would be pretty cool.

I think it had more to do with the fact that when they where being sold 20gs where these big huge monsters that only race cars used. There was not a big market for a 4g63 T4 manifold.

You guys are right, there is new technology being developed.
Here's what's cooking:
As you know, presently flapping waistgates have to start opening pretty early to limit boost at the right time (like if your boost limit is 10psi, it would start opening at 5, to be wide open at 10.) this greatly reduces turbo spool-up times and take slonger to get to desired boost.

So what's being developed is a integral waistgate technology that would stay shut all the way to the bosot limit, and then open.

Can't say much more though. (legal issues)

Umm... I'm not talking about wastegates :)

I honestly don't know much of what's coming out.... but from what the 'blue bird' has told me....... it's nothing to do with wategates.

Variable A/R turbine dual ball bearing ceramic/titanium turbos are close...but I didn't say a word...oh yea, and I know of 2 HKS T4 mani's within a 45min drive from me. If the price is right they could probably be bought (like $2000).

Wow, everyone here seems to know a lot about the latest and greatest turbo technology. Can any of you tell us more? I'm dying to know what you guys think!

Yes, you all seem to have the latest inside (colon) information, especially the "flapping waistgate" (holy christ did this make me laugh) technology. If you're stupid it's best to remain quiet because when you open your mouth, it erases all doubt.
