Just a friendly Batman reminder that a boost controller set 15-19psi (with a proper gauge of course) is the most productive mod you can do when just starting out. It beats a turbo back, anything intake related and of course cosmetic mods. And the best part is that it's the most cost effective mod too.

I think some people are afraid of this mod or think you need injectors/afc/fuel pump/various useless "tooning" gauges to pull it off. Nope. Just a good running car, boost gauge and MBC. Trust me on this one.

Don't sell your car or the rest of your combo short by not turning up the boost.

Well, for a 2g car, you just don't want to up the boost past 15PSI imo because after that its just hot air. Sure, you will gain say 5-7hp after 15psi up to 18psi...friend dyno'd his for kicks before installing new setup...but anyhow, you'll just be shortening the life of your turbo if you do that. But hey, its a good excuse to get rid of the T-25 right But seriously, you can still safely turn the up the boost a good 3lbs over stock which I believe is 12.

well u could always run 15 psi... and turn it up to 18 at the track for a couple of runs.. (see what u could hit) then back to 15 psi.

I woud suggest rewiring fuel pump for 15-18 psi.

Yeah, I limited myself to 14 psi until a fuel pump upgrade. The "common" limit floating around the internet is 15 psi on stock fuel system. I agree though, boost is power. I finally got my Supra pump and FPR installed about a month ago and made it to the track. That gave me the fuel I needed to feel comfortable putting in some 100 octane unleaded and turning the boost up to 18-19. It felt real good! : ) During the adjustments of my MBC, I actually started at about 22 psi (on stock SMIC), but I it didn't like that at high RPM's. I turned it down a bit and it ran better.

Definitely have to agree that. I think when i first installed my profec b back in the day, that was the best feeling compared to stock. of course if first put an air filter, which really put a smile on my face because i could here all of the turbo sounds alot better.

why does everyone alwyas say the T25 is nothing but heated air over 15psi.. I have dynos of 15psi and 23psi on the T25 and I made 19hp and 63ft/lbs of torque with upping the boost..just food for though

It's really funny that this thread is here, i'm doing the boost gauge/mbc this friday! Actually, not so sure about the MBC cuz i'm building it, well me and the owner of the shop i go to are building it. Anywayz, the whole 15 psi thing is complete B.S. when it comes to a 1g, i do not know about a 2g. There is only one thing though, i plan to wait to do a complete tune up on my car until after the boost gauge to see whether or not i was losing horsepower because of not doing a tune-up. Then when i know my car is running nicely, i'll turn the boost up. Oh, and the whole "make sure you're knocksensor is up to par", i plan on buying the EGT within the next two weeks, i figure since i'm gonna change the stock boost that the EGT will tell me whether i'm running lean or not. No offense or anything to anyone who already has one in, but Air/Fuel Gauge tells you the mixture before it's in the engine, personally i would rather know what's goin on inside my engine than in my intake manifold. GOD I LOVE DSMs!!!!!

P.S. I know someone is gonna flame me for that whole Air/Fuel gauge quirk.

Maybe you're right. So, what is your best guess of what adding a K&N (everyone does that first, right?) and upping the boost a couple pounds to 15-19 does for power? 230 HP? 250 HP? Corvette smoking? That would acutally be an interesting dyno pull: a mostly stock TEL stock, then add K&N and turn boost up XX pounds and see what it runs. What do you think?

maybe some old vettes.......i think you could keep up with a lot of V8 mustangs,and maybe some lt1 camaros....esp a FWD from a roll

the 14b is good to almost 300 hp@21 psi too

My friends 95 GSX read 10 PSI and when he added JUST the bov it threw it up to 11 PSI. He has it adjusted to 15 PSI now.

15 psi and higher on the t-25

Since the "15 psi" is at the manifold, couldnt you get one of those top to bottom flowng intercoolers (DSM-performance or others) that have a pressure drop of about .6 psi. Then turn up the boost on the T-25. Since the stock intercooler has a pressure drop of about 3 psi (from what I hear). You would then be able the up the boost to about 17.5 psi (at the manifold) and the turbo would be doing the same amount of work.

This is assuming you have enough fuel.

Yes and it's me! The O2 sensor is in the exhaust, after the eingine. Now that that's been said the stock one is a complete pice of #@%#@%#@%#@% and evey one here should never tune off it. Don't waist time with an autometer A/F. It is only as good as your stock pos sensor, wich is really in-accurate for tunning purposes. The only thing you can trust it to tell you is that you are richer than 14.7:1. Go here for more info.

A new intercooler just to get 17.5 PSI? Lets say we could push 20 out of the Garret. It still wouldn't be worth all the trouble. Its still a restrictive turbo. Get a Hahn Super 16G if you want more PSI, why bother with stock? Only stock turbo thats worth working with is the 14B.

I say build around your stock turbo. Last touch before you get a new turbo should be FMIC. Then when your ready you can put in a turbo. Now your car is built to handle the turbo plus give the added power from all the mods you will have done.

Yea I agree it would not be the most cost effective mod if you are keeping the T-25. I was just trying to prove a point that you could run the stock turbo at higher than 15 psi.
