my stock ecu has a MD166262 on it, and i got a spare that has MD128625 on it, all the numbers are completely different on it, i was told it was from a 92 tsi awd 5spd but i dont know, anyone have any idea

You have been around long enough to know about VFAQ's

From looking at http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ECUs.html that sounds like a 1G MT Federal FWD ECU.

I think you can change the internal config resistors to switch the ECU from FWD to AWD but TMO http://www.technomotive.com/prod/eprom/faqs.shtml#compatibility says it's a code difference in the ECU.

i never stumbled upon the ecu vfaq, ive probably read every other thing on vfaq tho =P

well from what ive read fwd and awd are interchangable
