What is the max boost you can run on a 2g gsx with a 1g block with just a boost controller? I plan on modifying internals and fuel system later, but how high is the stock computer and fuel system good for?

15 psi is a safe amount of boost. Every car is different, if you had a logger or something to monitor the engine you might be able to get a few moer psi.

If it's a 2g turbo, don't put more than 15 psi on it or all you'll do is make the air hotter, leading to detonation.

And without a logger you can tell by the butt dyno like this; If it's pulling hard @ XXpsi on a cool morning and then won't pull as hard at all on a warm afternoon it's likely that you're detonating and the engine is pulling back the timing to try and make it stop.

... or so I’ve been lead to believe.

YMMV

Stock boost varies especially on 2G DSMs. If you have replaced the BOV with a 1G unit ( should be the first mod every 2G owner does :D ) the stock boost should be anywhere between 11-14 psi ( usually around 11psi ). With the factory 2G SMIC and T25 turbo, efficiency is gone at anything higher than 15psi. You can run higher boost, but it will fall off the closer you get to the redline. :thumb:
