yea i looked at that but it doesnt say actual specs like max hp...i would imagine it be more than the big 16g...does anyone have this turbo...let me know..thanx though

i have it.

if your concerned with hp numbers only then your in for trouble. think of more what you want to do with the car and the sort of numbers you need to accomplish it. if i was making 500hp with a red in my GST theres no way in hell i could autocross or hit road courses.

seeing as you have a 14b already, try getting a frontmount, injectors and cams to see if you need anything more. the evo3 big16g might net an extra 20hp or so at that point?

im just guessing because ive seen an equal number of 14Bs and 16Gs run 12s on these forums. if your looking for 300+ and dont want to have to work at it then go 20g.

btw it spools up a lot faster and harder than the normal big16g from what i can tell (Riding in 13secgst's normal big16g versus mine), even with a 10 degree clip its pretty sick. i see 18psi by 3200rpms

Thanks a lot thats what i was lookin for:thumb:

you can buy a 16g or big 16g for $375 without the back housing, just use a 14b one and port it... the evo 16g is way overpircedwhat it actually is just like the evo 8 itself.. hmm

so what? you could have more money in your pocket insted.. and that actually makes a difference..

yea well, i would have done that but im a neat freak, rusty turbine housing drives me nuts. the evo3 takes away that insanity.

and it matches the exhaust manifold + o2 housing....i can give you so many reason why to blow money for no reason :D

uhh...way harder and faster? What...not even, I spool up full 20psi by 3500rpms...thats a 300rpm difference...and I'm not sure what you mean by harder? maybe going up hill and fighting gravity has something to do with it? Did you take that into consideration...felt faster downhill didn't it?

Yeh EVO III 16g is nice...but I wouldn't waste my money on a Mitsu Turbo again...I would go for a hybrid or Garrett. They flow more, are more effiecent, and spool better. What more do you want.

haha damn dude i sorta messed up my post and wasnt clear enough at the end.....

you have the fastest spooling clipped 16g car ive been in (on the stock bottom end...joeys 9:1 doesnt count). another erick out in riverside his clipped 16g doesnt spool up nearly as fast.

by harder i meant its more drastic, kind of like a t25/t28. your car felt more linear. im not even ported either....so what if your car is cooler :(

eh whatever....

should have bought one of the smaller hybrids from AGP...

ohh...ok...I get it now.

Yeh...turbo is clipped 10 degrees, ported and I have a ported 2g mani...so it will spool as slow as it can...and its actually not bad, but I have a problem because I'm not flowing as much air as I should...or at least not compared to my friend Matt...SBDSM...so I'm not really happy with the turbo...I also want to go to something from AGP...like L1R or L2R...even though they "don't make them" anymore...they can still make something exactly the same since they do so much custom stuff...

and no...my car spools nothing like a t25/t28...it is way linear and yeh...I think something is wrong with it since it just isn't flowing lots of air...and I also think I broke my bump stops...car seems to handle good now.

And I'm only flowing 31 lbs of air at 19-20psi @ basically sea level..and around 80 degree intake temps. Matt is flowing closer to 35lbs...thats ROUGHLY 40hp more...and on the freeway we raced and I BARELY pulled on him. As if we had the same hp...(my bigger wheel/tire diameter makes me a little slower) so maybe my MAS is messed up...

BTW...off topic, but are you gonna go to the meet in SB?

I didnt know the meet came together, hit me up on aim or email me Id like to come up.

At night im seeing 30lbs of flow at 18psi. Thats with a gallon of 100 octane in there, otherwise I fuel cut because of the injectors at night.
The same guy with the clipped 16g got a 20g recently and when we fixed his boost leaks and some minor stuff the car ended up pulling a lot harder.

Socalieclipse has a recent head reconditioning and when we had the same mods, same boost on the stock turbo he'd rip the living hell out of me. Maybe a little head work or cams will open up the car? He sent me an email from socal DSM. James in San Diego DSM just put down 318 at 19psi with his big16g. only difference is he has HKS cams.

Who knows for sure tho?

the way your car threw 3rd gear really didnt feel like only 31lbs though, felt a long stronger. and when we started out the cruise i has having trouble keeping up with you and socali in the straights.

I'm getting around 38lbs/min at 19psi, and 41.1lbs/min at 22 to 23psi with my unported Evo III Big 16G.

I ran 114.1mph with it last Wednesday. I don't think that there is a whole lot more left in it. Maybe 115mph if I work at it. maybe 116mph with a Magnus intake manifold.

My car weighs 3150lbs, and 3310 with me in it. I have HKS 264 cams and a Griffen front mount.

Not bad for a 16G. :) I don't think that any 14B has ever pulled 114mph. At least not in a car that weighs as much as my pig of a 2G.

nice...I found my problem though about why I am flowing so little air, and it is really weird,

Well...yes I was running 20psi, and it would go to 20 psi...but then it would drop off...and by 7000rpms I'd be just a hair under 16psi...which is really low. And it all has to do with my BOV not being tightened enough since they all run off the same boost source...I guess. Well I tightened the BOV up now once and it helped some...now I tightened it some more and I have to go drive it...then I'll reset my boost and do some datalogging and tunning...I let you all know how it goes.

So I guess its more like 31lbs/min @ 16-17psi

Is your 16G ported? Specifically, do you have a larger wastegate flapper?

Stop posting this bullshit. Its not anything like the turbo on the EVO 8! And the 14 and 16g do NOT have the same turbine housing. they're compatible, but the 16g turbine housing WILL make more power.

That is true. The Evo VIII exhaust housing has two inlets and is not at all compatible with the DSM exhaust manifold. As well, it would spin the turbo in the wrong direction.

The Evo III exhaust housing is compatible with our manifold and spins the turbo in the right direction. It is less likely to crack than a 6 or standard 7cm housing. It has a 2.5" turbine outlet (larger than the standard housings). It also has a redesigned wastegate port.
