For all of you guys that have done properly set up turbo modifications, I am talking about AGP L1R, T3/T4 setups, garrett and even 16G turbo upgrades that have been done properly. I mean completly setup properly with the correct supporting mods and corrects tuning. Do any you guys with setups such as these have any particular problems with them? if so what are they or what are some common ones that can occur. Also what are some important steps to take to ensure the reliability of the car with any of these setups. I am looking to make more power out of my car but I do not want it to turn into a maintenance hog, can anyone please tell me what I can do? thank you, please be explicit with your responses I need to know how to make my car reliable with a proper turbo setup.

P.S. what exactly are the proper steps to take to ensure reliability with the L1R turbo? that is the one I am most interested in, thank you again.

well considering you have a '99 you'll probably be ok on the maintenance thing, make sure everything on your car is up to par and dose'nt need to be replaced.

if it is setup properly like you spoke of then you should'nt have any problems, but don't expect not to have any, everybody does.

Dont beat on your car. Dont take it to the track. Thats how you keep it unbroken.

Its really going to happen no matter what. If your upgrading your turbo your going to break something. Because chances are your going to launch your car, beat on it,etc.

Just be smart and it will last for awhile with out breaking.

But the thing is I do want to track my car, not at the strip 1/4 miles is just not for me, there is a road course near here and I want to track it there on occasion maybe once every other month. If I am destand to break something what do you guys think it would be? and could I replace this part or parts in advance with a more reliable after market part so that I would not have to worry about it breaking? Thank you
P.S. I do not beat on my car on the street, not worth it.

I have changed my mind on the L1R and am now looking at something a little more conservative like the EVOIII 16G, can someone please give me some advice on what to do to increase reliability? thanks

Only thing I ever broke on my car was the transmission, but I think it was broke prior to taking it to the track.

After pulling the trans the output shaft literally fell outOMG  that's about it as far as stuff breaking.

I don't really see how people destroy their cars. I mean just drive like its a normal car and you will be fine. if you have so smoke the tires at every light you will have problems.

Taking it to the local road course will be much easier on the tranny than going to the strip. Engine abuse will be similar per day, but you get very much more tracktime :) A couple hours on an average track day instead of the 4 or 5 runs of 12 seconds a piece you might get at the local dragstrip!
