aight i belive i got a good start, and now im running low on funds, i wanna run 13.5s to 14.0's in street trim. I got a hahn 20g turbo, fuel pump 255 walbro, 3inch thermalresearch turbo back, k&n filter, J spec engine, stock clutch, stock injectors, no fuel computer. What should i do thanks ken

From the list above, I would recommend at least a SAFC, 550 cc injectors, boost gauge, AF gauge, EGT gauge and a FPR...just for safety and tuning's sake. Since you also do not have a FMIC, just "turning up the boost" without tuning the car= KABOOM... read the tuner's guide, step by step...

If you have a properly tuned 20G on AWD, you should be deep in the 12's already...if not, learn how to drive and shift.
Good luck.

i ran my car with this setup and pulled a best of 14.9, im running 16-17 lbs of boost, got a A/F guage, how important is this EGT guage and where should i install it, i heard before the turbo but my manifold is cast and you can weld that, also how much troublewould a exhaust leak give me the leak is where the down pipe meets the o2 housing thanks ken

ur running the stock time for ur car... did u put the turbo inside ur car? or is it still in the box? hehe j/k.. a little humor :) When u get everything tuned right u should be in the high 12's :). Have fun.

Yes. You have a problem. A near stock car can run a 14.9. You need to find where your problem is and fix it.

homie, can "u" do me a favor and make "ur" posts readable? Thanks.

i found my time slip, 60ft 2.30, 330ft 6.37, 1/8th 9.67 mph at 1/8th 74.46, 1000ft 12.556, 1/4mile in 14.95 at 95.81mph

maybe yall could see where my power is missing, or have an idea

Looks like you are launchimg without building any rpm or boost to start. You should have around a 1.9xx 60' time and that is at the slower end. Try revving to around 5K and slipping the clutch on launch or better yet read some other posts on how to launch car.

That will gain you some time to start. Also at what RPM are you shifting? I can tell if something is wrong with your car or you need to work on your driving.

If anyone else gives you sh!t don't worry about it. We all had to start somewhere (about your times).

With a 20G you should be able to go all the way to redline and hold the boost. By shifting early you are probably loosing some spoolup. I am guessing since I have never driven a 20G equipped (only 16G and T25).

I would say that alot probably has to do with driving and shifting. Keep practicing. I agree with everyone else to go with bigger injectors and fuel control, but first get used to driving the car. It is much cheaper and effective to upgrade the driver then throw more money at the car.

As other people mentioned you may want to have the car checked out as well to insure that all is working well.

What I meant about building boost was a little unclear. I was refering to launching with high rpm to help spool quicker and avoid lag.

i was launching at appr 42 45 hundred rpm, and let the clutch slip a bit before fully enaging it, full boost right away, the car likes to jump a bit once in a while to when i do that , lke the hole car hopes, which i know is slowing me down

I used to be able to get 10psi on the rev limiter (18G, gutted cat, stock exhaust). I don't recommend it but it's possible. Also I used to be able to get a little bit (3-5psi) by fluttering it at around 6500 rpms.

So, um, why are you making false statements?

i would have full boost the second the clutch was out during the launch, this car used to run a 14.8 with only the jap spec and a 14b turbo nothing else other then a mbc, my 60ft times then were 2.0sec. All of the sudden one day it slowed down (15.9's around their) THEN i put these mods on, some one said something back home bout ignition i may be missing at top end cause of the boost. How much would the injectors/ fuel computer help, power wise and reliablility?

That must mean it's imposible

Batman is correct. You can make boost on the launch without a 2 step by fluttering while the lights come down. An even easier way is to use the E brake while slipping the clutch. It takes some time to get used to slipping, holding e brake, releasing ebrake and keeping the car straight at first but it works. Ever watch any Top Gear, or Best Motoring videos. Those guys always launch with the ebrake to provide load to the engine causing boost to rise.

When I was learning the E brake technique on the old BR20G I could build about 8-10 psi at the line pretty easily. The thing to look out for will be that you will have more wheelspin with higher HP applications.

Let me also mention that this is hell on the clutch.
