lenexa,
Ok, I got my car into a mitsu dealer to get the head gasket done. Now they want to send it to a machine shop (I know the guy that's working on my car, and he wouldn't make #@%#@%#@%#@% up) to get it tested/milled/rebuilt. My question is, I can get a head off of a n EVO 3 (I think- it's a jdm that came with the 16g and bigger injectors) pretty cheap.

I wasn't going in looking at this as a mod, but if i'm going to spend that kind of money, should I say screw it and get the evo head from my friend? It would be maybe a couple hundred. Only problem is, most of the charges for getting the head redone are labor/ gasket sets.

Does 950 sound like too much for a head job? That includes new seals, gaskets, cleaning, etc...? I"m kinda stuck in it now, but i have this one option.

Any help would be great!

well all i can tell u is my brother took his honda civic in to get a new head gasket and they had to resurface the head like u r talking about and he ended up paying 1650 dollars to get all of it doneso 950 isn't too bad

-It's normal that dealer to use the machine shop b/c the dealer don't have the tool & expertise for the job, even you use the Evo3 head, it should still be resurface to ensure good seal, a 16 valve head's standard valve job is about $225 from the machine shop.
