If you are trying to replace it, just screw it off, counter-clock-wise, and bring it to whoever you are buying it from. I believe they are a standard size tho. Not sure exactly what size that is :)
 
ive already taken it off but the bguy im buying it off of wants to know the size of it. i thought i was like 3/8". hes a couple states away
 
There is no standard to the size of shift knob threads. Your best bet is to hit up an auto parts store for their nut selection and test fit them right in the parking lot. Most places won't mind. Once you find the right size threads, write it down/post it. Problem solved.
