Intercooler Fan

I just bought my new 16G I don't have much right now to buy a new intercooler. I have all the hard piping and fuel mods needed to push this turbo. My question is: Will a electric fan mounted to the back of the stock intercooler help with cooling the hotter air, by drawing air through all the time? Or are there any cheap intercoolers that will do the job, and that I don't have to hack the hell out of my car? Any help would be appreciated....

I have heard that on the side-mount, a fan would just slow down (block) the air once at higher speeds...

Yes, you don't want to blow air flow before or after the intercooler.

The best thing to do in your case would be to get some type of intercooler sprayer; and either spray co2 or water. I would go for water because it's cheaper and you can make your own system. And then you won't be out much money if you switch to a fmic in the future.

Look for the thread about the CO2 sprayer that someone here makes (very nice piece of gear) C02 is much colder than water (turn a bottle of canned air upside down and spray it, you'll see) I believe total cost was around $100 or so... with all the lines, nozzle bar, CO2 bottle etc. You can fill the CO2 bottle a few places, a paintball store/park if you have any near you. You can even buy a few of the bottles from a supplier and keep them filled if you're going to be racing for a full day at the track. (Most tracks don't like water sprayers...)
