I only have a catback on my car right now. I got a test pipe for my car for free the other day and i was wondering if its even worth to put it on? I just went through emissions to so i don't need to do that for another 2 years. Does it make any hp and does it sound any louder than just a catback?

i noticed a small difference in power, and the sound was a little louder. nothing extreme

Does a catback even help? Or a downpipe? Or a bigger catback?

YES!

A test pipe is probably worth 10-15hp on a decently modded car.

OMG...for me it was a huge difference...but only at WOT. Only time the sound changed was at WOT...everything under 80% Throttle was the same but more than that sounded a little louder and different...definite power difference too and much faster spool up.

i just ordered a test pipe... im probably not gona put it on yet because im having boost creep problems, time for a external wastegate ! :D

My downpipe is a cat eleminator, so I can't tell if its from the dp, or not having a cat, but it really seemed to help. I waxed a camaro with a v8 on the highway the other day. I have a gsx so its supposed to be slower on from a roll, but with only a dp and my stock cat back I f*ckin smoked him. This guy works with me, and he hasn't said another word about racing since this happend last week. Actually I am waiting for my cat back right now, I will right in soon and tell you the difference. But I did notice a significant gain with the dp and no cat.

I now have my full exhaust on, and holly sh*t it made a big difference. I'm not sure if one piece makes that much of a difference by itself, but when you have the full system, the effencincy of each part greaty increased. The saying is very true, that you're only as strong as your weakest link.

I've had 3" cat-back for awhile, just got around to putting a test pipe on like last week and it did make a difference, especially from a severely clogged cat. For one, the T25 seems to spool a little easier. Second, it'll make your cat-back sound much better. Mine is much more growlier/throatier, and at WOT sounds completely different.

i think my cat is clogged so i am gonna put a test pipe on my stock exhaust. as soon as i sell some stuff i will get my cat-back.

should i get an o2 eliminator downpipe and test pipe, or just a testpipe with cat eliminator incase i upgrade turbo's later and need to put a external wastegate on.??

thanks

Has anyone been pulled over because they know you've been running a pipe? I don't see how the cops could unless you have a stock exhaust and they know the way the stock exhaust should sound.

theres no way cops could tell unless your venting from the pipe with no muffler and sheeet. or they get u for a upgraded exhaust and see u have to cat...?

not like t hey check under your car though..

Don't get a test pipe untill you get a new exhaust. It would be kinda pointless to get one for your stock system and then have to get a another bigger test pipe for your 2.5" or 3" system. Just wait untill you get a new exhaust system. Good luck. :talon: :thumb:

i was gonna mek one for now for about $15 since i have access to a welder and a pos cat.

it does make a huge difference over a STOCK cat but over a HI-FLOW cat the power is minimal difference. My friend has a Mustang GT with straight pipes what a difference if you like the smell the fuel well your in luck:thumb: personally it makes me dizzy:dsm:
