The reason for that is the fact that you cant use a a6l on g2 eclipse you must use the dis-2 or (Distributorless Ignition System) Im not big on the ignition on the g1 but i do belive that it is set up for a a6l not dis so you may find a g1 owner with one

Bringing this thread back from the dead. But I got a good deal on a MSD 6al BTM and I wanted to know if it would be a good idea for my car. I plan on the evoIII 16g 550's fmic and all supporting. Also what else would i need for the 6al to work if it will work with the 1g. 90 tsi awd.

To get a 6al to work, you would need a second 6al that you would wire up, one MSD per coil. That would be really silly though. I guess if you were really desperate to stick it on your car, you could put it on one of the coils, so the 6al would be working on 2 of your cylinders, and the stock ignition would be working on the other two.

You should sell it, and if you really feel the need to spend lots of money to "upgrade" a perfectly adequate stock ignition, get something designed for a car that has 2 coils, not 1 coil. Most of the MSD-6 series is setup to work with a single coil distributor type ignition, so it's not the right thing for our cars.

Thanks for the help, My uncle had one and just wanted to get rid of it for some trades. But since it doesnt work without a ton of grief I wont attempt. Thanks again
