I have a ported 14b with all of my supporting mods in place. I was wondering would putting a set of HKS 272's be overkill? I am eventually going with a 50trim setup. Just wondering if running the the cams on a stock valvetrain and on a 14b be worth it.

I would go with the less agressive web cams the 262 (or maby its 264, cant remember) to really get full potental from 272s you need a build head with stiffer valve springs and all that jazz..

well lets see to get full potential from his 50 trim hes going to have to build the shit out of the motor. with that logic we should all give up. buy the 272s and love the power they give you with the 14b and the 50 trim. screw web cams they lick donkey scrotum.

just dont get upset when your 272s react poorly with your stock valves because they couldent get out of the way fast enough because of the stock springs, youll have an excuse to upgrade really quick..

the 272s keep the valves open so long that if just one of your stock valve springs are just a LITTLE weak they wont be able to move the valve out of the way fast enough, and the piston will hit it.. that results in much fun... but what do i know.

this goes hand in hand with the popular myth that our cars can only rev to 7500 without breaking something. its well known that these cars can rev to 8500 safely. stiffer valve springs are great but not totally necessary and not needed in this application.

Why would you put a cam in the car designed for power in the 6000 to 8500 range, with a turbo that runs out of steam after 5500? Brilliant. The 14b is good for low end torque, the cams are not. Make your selection wisely, thats why they call it a parts COMBO.

quit reading my posts and read the original one. you of all people should know that 272s will work VERY well with a 50 trim. dillhole:p

14b on a 2G? to each there own, i guess...

you will see a much bigger return from the 50 trim turbo and stock cams than with the cams and stock turbo.

this is a no brainer.

get the turbo. wait for the cams.

there is nothing wrong with a 14b on a 2g, its a massive upgrade over the t-25, i had one for a while before i got my 16g, i liked it.. then i killed it :(
