Olney,
I just got a T72 for my car...what kinda preformance do you guys think i will be getting out of it...

What manifold are you going to go with?

How fast did you go with the 60-1?

What are the specs on the T72 as far as turbine housing a/r/style/turbine wheel?

60-1 never went on...car is still not done its been in the shop for almost a year...i have all the specks on the T72 at home. The mani im using is going to be mabe by www.turbomanifolds.com full race mani...

I see, I'm assuming you will be running nitrous correct? Even on the bottle that turbo will make for some lag especially between shifts. Good luck with it.

Never heard of turbomanifolds.com but you might want to consider Geoff from full-race.com.

Let's see, if you're lucky, full boost by 6000RPM, lag between shifts, and you'll be lucky if it clears the water pipe without beating it to hell. But hey, you'll be able to brag to all the ricers and feel comforted in the fact that you're compensating for other areas. Seriously, I'd say it's a waste of money since even with nitrous, you'll be hard pressed to get usable boost below 5K rpm. Think volumetric efficiency and dynamics.

if it dont work ill just by a new set up...i i should be happy with a 100 shot direct port...this turbo set up is for shits and giggles...i got it for free so why not you know...

I've seen a t-66 on SR20 but a T-72. You gonna laugh when you try to spool that thing.

Later,

No chance. I don't even think full race DSM's can pull off that turbo. Why not just get twin T-61's w/ dual stage NAWWWSS setup, push like 1200 horse powa yo.

like i said it is was free so we are just trying it out to see what it can or cant do...i dont think many ppl have tried this big of a turbo out...so we fig we would.

I know it was free and all, but then I would suggest you sell it to a Supra or RX-7 guy and use that money to buy a turbo that will be usable on a DSM. It may be free, but will it be totally free to try and set this thing up to run? If not then I think you're wasting you're money and time and are better off selling it for something that'll spool before the quarter mile is over....(not literally, but you get my point).

Not to mention the manifold won't be cheap unless your getting that free too.:p

Ok guys so if i sell this thing what would be the biggest thing you could put on pull a low 10s 1/4...

Please, please, keep in mind, bigger isn't always necessarily better!!! Get an FP30 or Red/Green turbo would be my best recommendation. Can't do any better than Forced Performance, or AGP...almost forgot about them.

Joe

I would say run at least low 11s on your current turbo before you upgrade. I'm not going to tell you what turbo to buy but If it where me I would keep the 60-1 until that becomes the limiting factor. I have a feeling that will take a long time:cool:

I think i might just do that but i sould also make alot of money if i turn around and sell the T72...

Buschur Racing had that turbo listed on the Club DSM Site as the one they were running last year on his RWD drag car. Now he has the T66 listed but that may give you an idea of what is possible with nitrous if you are as much of a genius as him ;). I saw him run 8.5 last year, although he is faster this year.

There is a local guy with a FWD race car here with a T72. Its a 2.4L stroker and he is goingto use a large shot of nitrous to spool it. The car is not yet finished. But should be by the fall.

Just a little info on the turbo. A T72 is larger than a greddy (mitsu) T78. Aniel Pagan runs a Greddy (mitsu) T78 on his 10.0:1 alcohol FWD. The compressor wheel on a T72 is 72mm whereas the Greddy T78 is 70.8mm. The T72 most often is used with a Q trim turbine wheel. T72's are capable of over 800whp (SW's supra). Peter Blach made 904whp uncorrected with a 70 shot. As a comparison Angel Robles (Garage Advance) made 686whp with his Greddy T78.

Just thought I would throw that out there.

Bushcur's orange "street class" car is using a 60 trim and it just put down 603 to the wheels using only off the shelf parts. That seems like plenty of turbo to me.

Actually it was Kevin Lawson's white car that did the 603 and it was with a BR57 no nitrous. :D
