Aberdeen,
I got this aftermarket tack and it says to take one wire and run it to the 12v dash did that then it says to take another one to the 12v ignition and then one to the negative battery but the problem that im having is then it says to take one to the ignition but how do i do that????

Please help

ok the problem that im having is that the directions for this tack say that i need to conect a wire to the standard ignition coil or electronic ignition box and i was wondering how i go about doing this or if there is a easier way !!!

hmm.. im not sure how to answer the exact question but most tach's work off of 3 wires.. 1 wire is for 12v switchable power, another is for ground, and the last is the tach lead signal from the ECU..

I have 4 one for 12v dash lights
12v ignition switch
ground
and standard ignition or elctronic ignition

How do i hook up that tack lead and also is there an easier way than to go straight to ignition

i dunno man, this is where im lost I can only tell you from what ive hooked up in other cars before that most tachs have power ground and tach lead. i dont know why youd have the tach lead go to the ignition, the ignition is a source of power the tach lead would actually tell the car what RPM its at.. id wait and ask around and see if you can find anyone else whose done it.. what kind of tach is it'?

Its a proform with the ignition can i just hook that up to something that is live when the key comes on !!!

CPR, from what I gather from your posts, this is what you need to do:

If you haven't already hook up the things that you know (ground, power, and power when car is on) That 4th wire is the signal wire. You need to attach that to the Tachometer wire in your car.

There is a specific wire you need to find that should be listed in the previously posted Vfaq (I haven't done this myself, so I don't know what wire it is).

Please everyone, I know we're not all native english speakers, and we can't all be pros at english, but try to form your questions a way that people here can easily understand. I know this will probably be ineffective anyway, but oh well :) I can at least try. I just wish people would at least try to spell right, and use correct grammar in a medium totally based on text. (Yes I know I make mistakes too, but I try not to, and try to be clear)

I found that wire its a plain white wire in the wiring harness for the stock tach thanks for everyones help
