Hey, i just got done puttin my 2g pistons in my 90 eclipse gs turbo, it runs great but my check engine light is on. Also the sensor that is in the upper thermostat housing is not in, i cant find out what the hell its for so if anyone knows let me know pls, thanks. i suppose that should be it, but i dont think its the temp sensor cus my temp gauge is working. My car is more of a beast then ever, and i havent gone over 3000 rpms yet, anyone know how long should i break it in for?, oh and the reason that sensor is not in is cus i broke like 3 of those thermostat housings, and the new on i have has a bolt in the hole for that sensor that i cant get out, its locktighted in there. but i think my check engine light is on cus of something dumb, let me know guys thanks, jason:dsm:

Hey I am getting a laser T fwd and wanting to obviously mod a lil'. Did the 2G piston bolt right up? If not , and you dont mind me asking, what did it run you to get the work done? Is it just the pistons and rings you had to buy or did you have to machine the block? How is traction on yours?

Thanks
Rick

You probably threw the CEL because of that sensor. I have a 2g and that is for the gauge and the fan.... Make sure your fans are coming on and not blowing fuses. When mine popped out I blew 3 fuses and a fusible link for the fans.

I would make friends with someone who has an impact wrench and get that mother outta there...

Good Luck!

That question shoudn't even be here BUT if biger of 2 holes is plugged on tstat housing that's water temp sensor that goes to ECU.

Well it went off today, not sure y, and i went the dealer and got the new upper therm housing and they said ther ethat there is no sensor that goes there, the manager was like ya um no stock sensor gos in tthat hole that is y it is plugged, i was like well that sensor is defentetly not aftermarket, and i know that it gos there, the guy was like look i work for mitsu, i know, and i was like, i just rebuillt my ####in engine asshole, have you ever looked under a hood of one of those cars, and i left. also a mechanic at the service dept. tried to get the bolt plug out and he couldnt with an impact, so whatever my car is runinng incredible with 11psi and just keeping it under 5000rpms for a 100 more miles or so. my fans r goin on fine, and my temp gauge is reading a lil left of center, so other wise perfect all the time, i think im ok if i start havin trouble i dont know where i can get a normal housing, thanks guys

:::::::

I did it myself and all together i spent about a grand.
List-
2g pistons and rings and wrist pins-- 500$
get pistons pressed on rods and rods had to be machined a gip fot the bigger pins, and narrowed for the narrower pistons--200$
then about 100$ on a gasket kit
200$ for 2g mani(big difference)

i think at a shop you would be looking at about 2000 to 2500 for everything, its not hard, i didnt even have my engine out. and for traction, i have none, i havent even gone over 5000rpms and i lose grip at full boost in second, 11psi, these cars are insane. have fun however you do it
