Wasn't the Galant GSX a Canadian-market car? Or were they available down here as well.

How many parts off of a NA Galant GSX will go on my TSI?

I need a few parts, and at a local pull-a-part I found a NA galant GSX. I dont know what year, but same body style as the VR4. I need the folowing parts:

Lower bell housing cover
Transfer case
Rear engine mount
Thermostat housing

Which boneyard are you looking at (Lynwood Pull-a-part or Everett)? Are N/A Galants AWD? Which motor did you see?

If it's got a 4G63, the thermostat housing will work.

They all will bolt on, but may not be right.

Lower bellhousing cover........ same.
Transfer case........... depends on year and spline count.
Rear engine mount........ I think the NA and T cars have a different tuning to them, yet are physically interchangeable.
Thermostate housing....... there is no rad cap on the housing neck. The lower portion is also different in the number of sensors on it and turbo coolant line attachment.

Find out what they want for the rear diff? No axles, just the complete rear diff.

So you are saying I can use the mounting bracket? How sure are you? Thanks for you help. Too bad I went and bought a new lower bell housing cover from the dealership... oh well it was only 6 bucks.

No, just idle curiosity. You may want to check out the wrecking yard in Granite Falls. 1 hour drive from Seattle, but gobs o' DSM bits.

Yeah I know where granite falls is! Do you know the name of the wrecking yard? Or any more info?

BTW, the Galant is at the Lynnwood one. The Everett pull-a-part kinda blows.

Morphius - Shit goes really cheap there, I'm sure they'd give it to you for like 40 bucks. Assuming you know how to pull it yourself.

What do you guys know about the Galant GSX?

I just picked up a 90 model yesterday, saw it in the local Bargain Trader and it was cheap so I went and checked it out. Ended up getting it because of it's condition. I read that they were even more rare that the GVR4's, is that true?

Yes, they are sort of rare.

Maybe not as desired as the VR4, but rare.

i would take it but isnt more rare than a VR-4. A VR-4 is turbo AWD and the GSX is just AWD but has the 4G63. I would just do a simple n/a to turbo conversion and BAM street sleeper

gsx's are quite a bit lighter then vr4's are too. no 4 wheel steering among other things.

How hard would it be to turbo this thing? Will the 4G63 that's in it work or will I have to do an engine swap? I read somewhere that there are more GVR4's over here than Galant GSX's- that's what I meant by it being rare, not that someone would rather have this than a GVR4.

you will need exhaust manifold, I/C, turbo, bigger injectors, piping. The only difference btw the N/A 4G63 and 4G63T engines are the oil squirts and compression i believe.

Will I have to get an ECU from a turbo car or just an afc to control the injectors?

I believe that turboing it is that same as turboing a N/T 1g. So things like knock sensor arent in the block and arent programed into the stock ecu.

Ive only seen one G-GSX ever before. They probably are more rare than a GVR-4. A motor/ecu swap and youll be good to go

Galant GSX specs and differences from VR-4?

I just picked up a 90 Galant GSX from my friend. we've all been wanting it so somebody can turbo it. well i got it now. long story short, i'm going to be ditching the engine all together for a turbo one from the get-go. now aside from the obvious things that would need to be performed like ecu, engine and whole turbo and ic setup etc.. i've got a few little questions i'm trying to work out. if anybody knows where i can find any specs other than the obvious or knows about or has a galant gsx, i've got a couple questions.
1. i have heard that the whole wiring harness is required in order to do a 4g63t swap right. if so, could one from a 94 frontwheel turbo laser work? i mean assuming i had 91+ engine so all of the sensor connectors would be correct, otherwise a harness from a 90 awd turbo? if at all?
2. what are the specs on the driveline. as far as how strong/differences in the transmissions and their gearing. also, i'm assuming the rear end is a non-lsd 3-bolt. (i haven't had a chance to pick apart the car yet or even get it in my possesion but i wanna get started on this right away)
3. is it true that the n/t throttlebody needs to be modified at all in order to handle boost? (i wouldn't be running more than 19psi or so at the most) they're just a little bigger than 2.5" inlet. and i've got an extra that i was going to run on my 90 tsi as well if possible so it'd be easier for i/c piping and less gaskets and larger diameter.
any help or input anybody could give me would be really apreciated

you would have to change the rear diff, and the tranny from a turbo. the galant gsx doesnt have as strong as a tranny. also the galant vr4 has a 3 bolt non lsd with aws. go to galantvr4.org so you can find all the info needed.

Question about galant gsx

Alright guys, i am going to be working on a 90 galant gsx. The guy wants me to swap the 4 lug hubs for 5 lug hubs. I have heard multiple times that they share parts with awd dsm's. I have parts from my awd dsm that i am parting out. Does anyone know what all parts they do in fact share. He needs a rear crossmember also, anyone know if they are the same. Thanks so much for any answers that you might have.
