viscus coupling help

i am replacing my VC right now and have the transmission cap off but can fugure out how to remove the VC. is there a trick? just pull? thanks...i have to be to practice at 3 so i really need to rap this up.

if it is damaged will it show it externally or does the damage occur inside? i suspect it was towed incorrectly since it came from an auction...
