Hey... I've been looking for an o2 sensor housing for quite a while. I need one before I can install my RRE 2.5" downpipe, to avoid the boost creep problems that I've heard can come from aftermarket downpipes on the stock t25. My eventual goal is to hit ~ 400 whp, so I'm looking for something that will withstand that kind of power and be upgradable for future turbo upgrades. But... I'm also not looking to spend the $200+ that victory and similar vendors charge for the really nice tubular housings. I'm also staying with the internal dump. Now I was planning on having slowboy port my stock 2G housing, but thats $50 plus shipping to and from, and I have serious doubts as to its ability to take the kind of power that I hope to be putting out one day. Not saying anything bad about slowboy's porting abilities, I just don't think the stock housing, regardless of how its ported, will be able to take it. Am I wrong?
Having said all that, this is the housing I'm looking at. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2409771441&category=33742
The design looks pretty decent, and I like the gradual bend on the dump tube. At $100, the price looks decent too. Is this a good option to go with? Only concern of mine is the quality of the welds (i know very little about welding). Any thoughts? Should I just bite the bullet and save up the $200 for a nicer one, port my stocker, or go with this ebay solution? Sorry about the long post... I just felt the need to explain everything as well as I possibly could to prevent confusion.
Thanks,
BryanK

The thing is, the RRE downpipe is only 2.5" to the flex section. Thats only like a foot, maybe a foot and a half of tubing, and its right where the exhaust gasses are hottest and flow better (thats how it was explained to me anyways). From flex section on its a full 3". I'm pretty confident in its ability to handle the power, I just want the o2 housing to as well. Is it pretty impossible to have a 2.5" internal dump o2 housing that will prevent boost creep on a turbo big enough to put out 400 hp? I didn't think that this was too unreasonable... but I am frequently wrong.
Any thoughts? I'm definately not changing my downpipe... I just need to figure out what I'm going to do for the o2 housing. Any opinions as to the quality of the unit I linked to in my original post?
Thanks,
BryanK

oh my lord jdm... that has to be the nicest housing I've ever seen. That doesn't really say a whole lot, but that is really a work of art. NIIICE. where did you get that bad boy?
candela... i agree that ahp products are pretty nice. I'd be getting that, but the $200 price tag would take a pretty hefty chunk outta my wallet right now, and if at all possible, I'd like to avoid that. And I did see your link earlier. That was the first place I looked when I started looking for a new housing. Thanks though.
Any ideas if a heavily, heavily ported 2G housing would be able to take that kind of power? I'd really just rather not spend $200 on a housing right now, and I'm basically just looking for something that will flow really well, hold up well, and not cost me an arm and a leg. But... thats a lot to ask.
Thanks for all the help so far,
BryanK

I paid a grip for it, but a 3" o2 is pretty much a 3" 02. Ryan at rnrracing.com has some pretty nice 3" 02 housing for a decent price. thanks for the compliment:thumb:

damn that is the most bling bling o2 housing i have ever seen. The damn thing looks gold plated. I bet you paid a fortune for it. What size turbo do you have bolted to that thing?

Bryan K,

Well than my man might I suggest just sticking with your o2 housing then. I would be willing to bet that if you port the hel out of it (and plan to go internal) and stick a dumptube on there (though it will be tough cause its iron), that it could support your goal of 400hp. You might as well try with it as your not going to lose any money. Try it out and see how it goes...

hehe... thats my plan, but after I get a different housing. I'm definately going to get a tubular housing one way or another, because I can't have too much down time (gotta get to school and work somehow). I'm just going to buy a tubular, use that until I get mine ported the way I want it, and if mine flows well enough than I'll just resell the tubular. If it doesn't, than I'll keep it.
Can you explain what you mean by put a dumbtube in there? I thought dumptubes referred to the external tubes that routes the gas more towards the ground (thus makine it external dump instead of internal)? Am I wrong?
Thanks,
Bryan
