i am in the process of tradeing my car in for a 1996 Eclipse GSX. its a 5 speed, and has 110,000 miles on it. i was just wondering what kind of problems it may have and what i should look for. i was also wondering when the turbo goes bad. i heard from somewhere that the stock turbo goes bad at around 60,000 miles. and how can i check that the turbo is still good before i buy it. any comments and suggestions are apreshiated. thank you.:dsm:

are you getting it from a dealer or a private seller?

do a compression check, get the recalls looked at, and do a general tune up.

hopefully the previous owner did beat it up too much :p

you're going to need to do (fairly soon) another 60,000 mile checkup. It costs like 500 bucks I think, but I don't know if that includes a timing belt. You can check the turbo by pulling off the inlet snorkel. You reach into the inlet on the turbo and try to wiggle the fan deal around. Pull out, push it in, side to side... every which way. It shouldn't move very much. A little bit is OK, but like 1/4 inch is too much. A good condition used stock turbo can be had for about 100-125 bucks, but if you're getting a new one, you might as well get a t28 variant b/c it'll fit just like stock but give lots more performance.

how much you getting it for?

how much is the T28 turbo? i am getting it for $8000. it looks almost exactly like yourse. it is white, has some 17'white rims, injen intake, hkx exhaust, and indeglow gauges. its pretty nice. i was thinking of getting a T3\T4 turbo. is the T28 better?

is there any known problems that i may come across, or that i should look out for?

Watch out for the clutch, if it is still stock. It isn't to common but do yourself some research and learn about crankwalk, the is a 2G folly.
