i just bought this joep xz mbc like a week ago. i emailed joep and he emailed me back saying to hook it up to the wastegate and the turbo housing because the small bleeder hole in the mbc can cause a small leak in the line going to the bov.. but i see many people hook it up to the bov line anyway. is it better to tap in the bov line or go directly to the turbo housing. dont know which to follow. thanks

actually here is the email i was sent if anyone wanted to see it:

I am a firm believer in the factory uses the turbo outlet for a reason. It is best to have a dedicated source for your wastegate, the BOV line tap is a hack and I don't know why anyone would do that when there is a fitting right no the compressor :).. Also, all ball and spring MBC's have a bleed hole in them, if you hook to the BOV line, you are actually causing a leak before the BOV which will cause it to not operate properly. Most people would not even notice it, but that doesn't mean it is right :).

OT. Yo man im from wurtsboro, Are you heading down to E-town next weekend?. I think we are all meeting in middletown then heading down sat. morning.. Ok back on Topic. Im not positive, Joe hooked up my MBC himself at one of the shows last summer.

i had the same question a while back i installed a mbc inline with the bov
but at high boost i got a nasty hesitation. after i ran off the compressor
outlet it worked great but the thing i didnt get is that with a small pinhole
bleeding off boost there there is no way to regulate max boost so i
ran the mbc to bleed back to the intake pipe adjusting the amount bled
with the mbc rather than letting the bleed hole do the job. i'm not sure
if the setup is as intended but works great now i can go from 10-16 psi
hope this helps

Just connect the MBC the way joe says. It's the easiest way and if you don't like the way it runs you can tee into the BOV later.

The bleed hole should be somewhere on the wastegate side of the ball valve. It will only bleed off a very small amount of pressure when the valve is open. It's there to bleed off any remaining pressure in the WGA once the valve closes so that the wastegate will close.

if you don't have that run to atmo. then most likely your turbo is very laggy due to boost keeping the wg open. Mine is much more steady and easy to use with it tapped at the turbo outlet as opposed to the bov line.
