Hey Guys,

I just got my AGP t-28 on tuesday and I'm getting ready to do the install on friday night. I just want to make sure that I have all the tools and parts I need. I have the turbo to exhaust manifold gasket and the 2 gaskets for the oil lines. After searching I read people saying something about a bolt that goes from the turbo to the exhaust manifold that usually needs to be replaced. I couldn't find what bolt they were talkign about. So, If anyone knows the bolt or anything else that would be a good idea to pickup I'd appreciate it

Thanks

Of the 4bolts that bolt your manifold to your turbo one of them is a studd. Its possible to keep it, but a pain in the ass. To get it out double nut the stud, put 2 nuts on the stud, tighten them against each other, and turn the bottom bolt out like you were loosening it. It should come out pretty easy. Just be carefull, if it feels like it was going but is getting hard then stop. Spray the hell out of it with some penetrating lube. And let it cool then go back at it. If you dont then the bolts will get hot and try to fuse itself to the threads in the turbo....then it gets ugly.
BTW, that bolt is like $10 from the dealer.

youll need a swivel aka wobbly(as we call it around here) to get some of the manifold bolts(12mm)(14mm on 2 ends) out. I think the oil, and coolant lines are 21mm, not 100% sure though. The oil drain line is a pita some times. Just take your time on it and take breaks if you have too...It can get frustrating, or go right in..

try to install the turbo without dropping the exhaust mani it worked on my car just a thought unless you want to port the exhaust mani. Just trying to save you some time!

Thanks for the help guys, sounds like it just better to get the bolt. I'm taking the downpipe off so that I can leave the manifold on the car

thanks again

I just put my 20g back in tonight and replaced the stud with a bolt. I went to home depot and got the 3/8 x 10mm x 1.25. Just take bolt with you and make sure. It looks a little different from the others, but Im in to go not show. It was only like 1.50 for the bolt also.

I would suggest having some rtv or silicon gasket maker handy for the oil return line, since the stock gasket off the t-25 shredded off when I removed it. I also bought new hose clamps as the stock ones are crap and dont allow you to tighten them down. I hope you have a steel braided oil feed line also as it makes removing and installing the turbo much easier than the stock hard line. It doesnt take that long to do the install either. Especially if you are like me and have done it 3 times in 3 weeks.

Once again proving the old adage right " DSM's, turning ordinary guys into mechanics since 1989."

I used a cheap bolt the first time I pulled that stud, and i dont recomend doing it. It wasnt meant to handle that heat...damn, its been a while, and i cant remember what it did. But i just remember it becoming a pain in my ass.

And the manifold takes like maybe 10-15min to get off, but it will save you so much more time when trying to get the other lines off.

I have the gaskets for the oil lines. I'm gonna get the stud tonight. I didn't get the stainless oil line due to lack of funds, but I'll get it in the future.

Thanks again for the help. I'll let you know how it works out.

Where do you get the stainless oil line for the T28? Ive seen some out there but theyve all said not for use with a T25 or T28....

....oh ya, and its not necessary to pull the radiater out when installing the Big T28 is it? Friend told me it was and I am looking at getting one in about a month and installing it myself, and I just found this hard to believe.

nah, you just gotta pull the ac fan. Install is pretty easy. If you getting a t-28 from agp, ask them about the oil line.

Btw I'd highly recommend AGP, great guys to work with :thumb: :thumb:

That bolt you are talking about is the turbo to exhaust manifold bolt. I got one from the dealer for $1.50 here is the part number MR187699. Hopefully I will have my turbo on by this weekend too, a Big 16G. just waiting on the shop to get done porting it out. If I were you I would get the $1.50 dealer bolt over the $1.50 not really made for this applicaiton bolt. Just my opinion though.
