Does anyone know of a VFAQ that gives instructions on installing a TMO stage 3 chip onto a 91-94 or 90 ECU? I am having trouble finding an ECU quipped with one (suprise surprise) and it is a bit expensive to pay 100+ for a chip used, then another 2 or 300 for an ecu, then 300 to have TMO socket it into the computer. I see my only other option as DIY. Can someone offer another option?

If you already have a TMO EPROM and a EPROM ECU any reputable electronics repair facility can desolder the existing EPROM and solder in a new socket. Make sure they use a new machined pin socket so the new EPROM doesn't vibrate loose over time. I wouldn't suggest DIY unless you have experence doing component level repair.

If you're at all handy with a soldering iron you can do it yourself. I did mine with soldering and desoldering irons in about ten minutes. This was about a year ago and it's worked great since.
