I think something weird is going on, but I'm not sure. You can check my mods list if you want and I have a good boost gauge.

Here's the deal: I have an HKS EVC boost control. It's the old kind where it is electronic and adjusts by turning screws on the head unit. It has LOW MID and HIGH settings and can be turned off.

All 3rd gear pulls to redline

EVC OFF:
Boost quickly runs up to 7psi, pauses, then rises quickly to 15psi

EVC LOW SETTING: (Turned all the way to minimum)
Boost quickly runs up to 10.5psi, pauses, then rises slowly to 12psi

EVC MID SETTING: (Turned to a peak of 15psi)
Boost quickly runs up to 15psi, then holds DEAD STEADY with absolutely no variation.

EVC HIGH SETTING: (Turned to a peak of 22psi)
Boost quickly runs up to 22psi, then immediately starts decreasing to 18psi.

So it's like I can't control the boost down low (it rises), and I can't control it up high (it falls), but if I run it in the middle (15psi) it hold rock solid.

Is this normal? I normally run 15psi all the time, but I have started tuning with a pocketlogger and want to eventually tune the car to hold up around 22psi on race gas.

Thanks for any advice!

Jonathan

With the stock turbo it sounds about normal. You are probably getting a little bit of creep at low boost levels, and the 14b certainly wont hold 22psi until redline.

*edit* i see you have a 16G. well i'll be damned if i know whats up. find a friend with an MBC and see if it changes anything
