Carol Stream, IL,
anyone else have problems with tightining it up? I couldn't fit a socket inbetween the nut and the DP and its loose. I already blew one gasket.

Its real loose but it isnt too loud so im ok with it but it does leak through those holes.

Did anyone have to buy thin-wall sockets for this project?

it will not fit bro. there is absolutly no clearance. midas couldn't even put it tight....he said to go with someone with thin wall sockets.

of course back then i couldn't return it either because before i put it on i put a 3" cutout in it.

did you try using a universal joint on the socket extension.if that doesnt work im outta ideas

see where it bolts on to the turbo those two bolt holes? Yeah well notice how damn close they are to the downpipe. i cannot get a regular socket in there.

ok i work at jcwhiney and we have people calling in and sending back pacesetter stuff al the time, they have very nice parts but sometimes there specs, welded seams, and other things get messed up so it doesnt suprise me that the down pipe doesnt work

Try using a wrench instead of a socket, it is time consuming but it'll get it tighter, just use the open end of the wrench and if you can use the box end to get it tighter then use that, sometimes you can't use sockets, thats why they invented the wrench

ok heres what you do,get a box wrench with an open wrench side on it.take two if you need them and use the open end side on the bolt.put the bolt through the hole first.line it up,put the nut on the back and do it that way.if the open end wrench doesnt work send it back and kick pacesetter in the nuts for being ### bastards.

I have the same down pipe but for a 1g. I love it and i have had 0 problems with it at all. Quilty is good and the fitment is just right.

well i can't send it back because i already put a cutout in it.

i already did the wrench stuff and it doesnt tighten all the way. i will fix it soon but i need a new gasket since i fried mine.

so your saying they're crap? why's that, just wondering? it looks like it's stainless so it won't rust, that's a plus. what's all bad about it besides that one person is having difficulties with the installation?

i know its totally different but i have all pacesetter on my car.i have header, downpipe ,cat, and cat back.the header makes the car sound really weird and the paint came off the second i turned on my car,the power i got from these headers if very slight and not constant.at different rpm ranges i ca feel it increase and decrease with constant pressure on the gas.the downpipe is in combo with the header.the cat i have is the second one i bought and the first i bought broke before i could even install it on my car.the core in the cat shattered when it knocked loose from the walls of the cat forcing me to get a new one.the cat back is a very odd sounding exhaust and its pretty much brand new and it barely passes emissions.for some reason all this new stuff has all these problems.all this stuff has been on my car for less than 6-months.they were right when they say you get what you pay for.

i got my downpipe for $210 i think from a local speedshop.
