Ok long story short, pulled the motor out of my 95 gst due to spun bearing, rebuilt it, put it back in and now when I go to start it the ground that goes from the firewall to the intake manifold gets hot and starts smoking and burning the rubber off the cable itself. Im guessing something is grounding itself out, or something is case grounded. due to rain and working on the car outside I had to stop before I could check much. What options do I have? what should I look at first, I know im not the only you who thats had this problem LOL. thanks in advance guys

Odds are you're missing the main ground from the battery to the starter bolt, and the entire system is trying to ground through that small ground wire. When cars are missing that small ground wire to the firewall, the throttle cable turns into a ground, and it's not a very good one. ;)

got it guys, my buddy that put the starter on didnt connect the main ground LOL. Kinda what I figured. It was the first and of course last thing I checked. She runs now, but is too rich. thanks guys
