The South,
i tested my compression yeseterday...and got:

#1: 130
#2: 115
#3: 140
#4: 150

TIME FOR A REBUILD?
and does anyone think this is why i'm burning oil? cause it burns at idle most of the time but some people were saying it could just be my valve seals...do i need a rebuild?

is this hot, or cold?

it Reallty depends *WHEN* you're smoking...

is it at idle, or Tip-in, or WOT?

and.... the low compression Could be just rings....

is This the stock motor/rings??

its a stock engine with 80K miles on it..it runs hot ALOT...oil disappears..but no obvious smoke..

okay...network here gave me the shaft.....

i'll reply again.

you need to give an accurate description

was teh Compression Test done on a stone-cold motor? or on recently-driven motor?

in your first post, you say it smokes @ idle, then you say it doesn't.....(which is it?)

does it smoke when It idles for an extended period of Time(stoplights, traffic...)
does it smoke @ WOT?
or... does It smoke After Sitting Still For a moment, and *THEN* giving it any gas?

help ME... help *YOU*

ok ok ok sorry..
it smokes after sitting for a while at idle..
compression was tested when it was hot

first thing To do... run some MCCC

check if you can't burn Off carbon deposits on your valves....
if That doesn't help....(with Compression)

I'd take a Step To rings......

as Far as the smoke...oil @ idle is *USUALLY* valve seals....

mopar combustion Chamber cleaner

goood Stuff

have to go to a dodge/chrysler/eagle/jeep place to get it... but it's pretty damn Cool

spray it in your engine while it's running, and It breaks down, and burns-off carbon deposits

also, you can soak the engine overnight, and let ti East away...

MCCC is Mopar Combustion Camber Cleaner.
Just a food for though. How do you know the smoke is not coming from the turbo seal leaking?

from the posts I've ever read... turbo seals will smoke when you "get on it"

weather it's blipping the gas From idle, or @ WOT... turbo seals *usually* show signs of wear while it's *in-use*

being "mopar" and this being a 4g63 and not a K420a, i'm assuming it wouldn't matter?

Reading from the posts, I think you should do a leakdown test. #2 is below service limit and leakdown will tell you where you are losing your compression.

No, it wont matter. I would just do the leakdown test if I were you.
Good luck.

I've heard that it's more likely to be leaking oil from the valve stem seals than from the rings. Since the bottom end of these engines are designed to handle so much boost/stress/pressure, it makes sense that they are very durable and not likely to wear quickly.
