Just curious to your throughts on big boost and stock headgaskets. Im running a T3/T4 50trim at 20psi on pump and will likely keep it under that as im not planning on running race gas at the track. Should be around 350whp.

Anybody out there have head gasket problems while running a descent amount of boost and HP or is it hit and miss?

Jim I know you are violently opposed to searching but…. There is a great post in the Extreme forum that talk about headgaskets. The short answer is that if you are making anything under 500hp the Mitsu metal headgasket with ARP headstuds will work GREAT end of story.

My stock HG and Stock head bolts held 26 psi, from a 50 trim T3/T4 on C116, and I don't think I was really pusing it's limits. If you keep it under 20psi on pump with enough fuel it should be fine.

Good luck,

Not violently opposed to searching just being told to search. I did acctually do a search for it but it didn't really turn up any results, however I didn't do a whole site search I limited it to the 2.0Turbo forum, should have re-done it on the extreme forum. But thanks for the tip. ;)

Glad to see 20psi on pump wont be a problem. I wanna try running mid 20's on C116 so I'll just stick in some arp's and go for it.

:dsm: Still have stock in mine and I run 18psi all week Fri/Sat I put 104 fuel in and set to 22psi.
I once hit scramble boost at the strip and it sent me to 26.9psi and blew the upper IC pipe right off !!! Lucky the boost didnt get into the motor, who knows what could of happened. But no gasket problems yet.

I've always heard that the stock head gasket/studs are good to around 24-25 psi. After that the head starts to lift. I'm running 20lbs of boost and around the same hp as you and havn't had any problems yet. I'm about to put in some cams so we'll see how it goes :)
