Just wondering if an alternator from the 2.4 liter NT engine in the Spyder (I'm assuming) will fit a 2G turbo. From what I've researched, the alternator for the 2.4L automatic puts out 90 amps, compared to the 75 amps for the turbo models. I think my alternator is on its way out again so I'd rather put in the 90 amp one if it fits.

90A is so paltry I don't know why anyone would replace an alt with another one with so little juice. Alterstart sells several much more potent alts; mine is 165A. Same casing, lifetime guarantee.

So I bought an alternator off of ebay for the 1996-97 Eclipse Spyder NT AT and installed it today. It fit just fine. I'm assuming it's the same one used in the late 90's Galants (since it used the 4G64 also, not sure what year range though) and Canadian model Talons. I think 1998-99 Spyder NT's used the same 75 amp alternators that came with the GS-T/GSX.

Anyway, it's not like I'm running an elaborate stereo setup and needed more juice. The price for the stock 75 amp alt was the same as for the 90 amp, so I went with the latter.

There is some misconception about Canadian 90 amp alternators. US cars came with 90 amp alternators too, but they were rated for 75amps, while Canadian alternators were rated for 90 amps. Basically there is no difference between a 75 amp US alternator and a 90 amp Canadian alternator.

Ramenpride - if you are paying for a new alternator, pick up an alterstart one. I paid $250 for a stock 2G alternator and I'm kicking myself for not picking up a 165A alternator.

Edit: Never mind, I just saw that you already bought it.
