San Antonio,
hi all,

went to the dyno yesterday and thought I'd show you how I did and ask for your advice. This was my first run and in case you can't see due to blur, the peaks were 269 HP, and 273 TQ. I'm satisfied with the numbers as this is still with the 14b and no n2o (also ran it on spray, will post later). Boost was at 17psi and still on stock SMIC and turbo with 110k miles on the clock. My list of mods are in profile. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Joe

Im not real familar with DSMs yet but that seems like good numbers. Car running decent 14s id say? maybe even a very very high 13?

Actually, I haven't run my car at the 1/4 yet. Mainly because I know how bad the traction will be. Anyhow, Rivercity Raceway is right near by me as I'm in San Antonio, so maybe I'll go soon and post a time that will make all you AWD guys feel better :)

the curve looks good for a small turbo.

For the mileage of your vechile it looks real good.

A 16g would help out in higher rpm power wise.

Love that BIG, flat torque curve! If I'm reading that right, it looks like the turbo hits full boost at 2,700 rpm? That must be fun to drive on a twisty road.

yes, a 16g would be sweet. I did turn the fuel up at high rpms on a later run and there was much less of a nosedive of power, lost that sheet though. And Pneumo, the run was a 4th gear pull and it hit full boost (17 psi) right at about 2900 rpm (yes it is fun :) Thanks for the words
Joe

with a good driver and some slippin of the clutch on decent tires, I'd say you're set for high 13's.

Nice numbers, your car seems to be in great shape. You definately have a mid to high 13 sec car in the 1/4, and a low 13 to high 12 sec car from a roll.

They always do for me cause I don't run mine at the strip from a DEAD STOP in a 1/4. I'm more of a street racer guy than a strip guy, so 3/4 of my encounters on the street are from a roll. I like to try and keep it that way since I'm WWD. Don't get to stressed on me wording it that way it's just how I like to look at it since I'm WWD. Of course your not going to look at it that way, hell... your AWD so I would expect to here a comment like that. You'll be alright!!!

A comment like what? When you are talking about how FAST a car is, you talk about what they trap in the 1/4, not what there ET is. You saying "and a low 13 to high 12 sec car from a roll" is complete ricer speak. So instead of saying that, you should have said "you will trap around 1XX mph with that setup". I wasn't stressed, just pointing out how wrong you were in your wording.

"hell... your AWD so I would expect to here a comment like that. You'll be alright!!!" - I don't even understand what the hell you were talking about there. Just so you know, I wasn't stressed, its just 1/4 miles times aren't measured from a roll, so stop the bullshit and admit you were wrong.

P.S., what do you trap in the 1/4 anyways?

mclaren, if youre asking what I trap in the 1/4, I don't know as I haven't run my car yet. Also, as a side note, if you want to see my dyno run spraying nitrous, it's up in the nitrous forum. Keep in mind that timing was complete crap when you look at the graph, kinda makes you realize that spraying doesn't always add horsepower. If you look at my n2o sheet, you can see I actually lose power over my base run in certain places because the car just doesn't agree with it the way it is tuned. Peak numbers up though, and I guess I can sound manly saying I put 300+ to the wheels on my 14b. Oh well, I know (and now all you know) my nitrous sheet looks like crap, so I won't even pretend. thanks for the space

I know 1/4 times aren't measured from a roll. I agree with that! I'm just basically saying if he was an awd with the same power he is making now, he would have a guestimated low 13 high 12 sec car. He's not! So with his same power in his FWD he would be a guestimated mid to high 13 sec ET car. He would more than likely have good enough traps in his fwd to run low 13's high 12's if he could get traction. That's all I'm trying to say. Also... if your going to make rude comments like that please do it over at DSMtalk.com. You would fit in perfectly over there. No hard feelings I just don't want to see this site end up like that one. If I did mis-word anything, then I stand corrected! I was just making a post that's all. As for times slips... I don't run my car at the strips as I said in my earlier post. I mostly just horse around out on the streets. Although I would like to run it sometime on down the road, but I would guestimate somewhere in the 105 to 110 range from what cars I've run against out on the streets.

"Also... if your going to make rude comments like that please do it over at DSMtalk.com" - I never thought I had a rude comment. Oh well, what you said above was a lot better way of explaining it then "from a roll....". Thank you for correcting yourself, I just don't like hearing bullshit like that. I get enough of it from Supra owners that run me at the track, I don't want to see WWD DSM guys start spewing it to. :)

And agreed, no hard feelings, I didn't know there were hard feelings to begin with however.

That's cool man. I think I took you the wrong way. Sorry!

Hi all
So, does anyone have any suggestions on my next mods. I'm still trying to decide. I want to keep the 14b for now just to see how far I can take it. Maybe 2nd gen exhaust mani? Cams? let me know what you think and when I do it I'll post a new dyno sheet so you can see the difference with me. Thanks in advance

Yes... I would definately consider some cams. The HKS 264/272 combo would be nice up grade, along with a 2g ported exhaust manifold.

Thanks for the reply Speedy, I think my next upgrade will be the exhaust mani. It will be interesting to see how much it really help on the dyno. Anyone know where to get one for the best price? Preferably not the DSMTrader as I have already had 2 bad experiences with that.
I'll update when I get it on and post the dyno sheet for comparison. Thanks for the encouragement Speedracer.

Twistedtsi, my mods are in my profile, just click on my name. Anyhow, boost was at 17psi and no nitrous. Also, in case you haven't already, check out my nitrous run in the nitrous forum. I'm still looking for advice on what the heck I need to do to get that looking a little better. Dyno sheet is posted there also, look for "Dyno on n2o" thread.
Oh, and thanks for the compliment, it means a bunch.

To get good used parts i recommend going to www.AllMitsubishi.com. I get parts from them all the time because they are pretty local to me. But i know many other people have bought parts from them and find that they are a good source of used parts, and ship to anywhere. They have everything already pulled, cleaned, tested, and inventoried. It is actually a really respectable place. I think you could find the parts you need there. Oh yeah and use their 800 number to get in tough, for some reason i can never find anything on their online inventory, but they always have it if you call.

Boostedblur, Nice run especially on the 14B. Your mods are similar (except the NAAWWSSS!!:p ) to mine and you dyno'd pretty close. We dyno'd at AMS in the Chicago burbs and a few of us are trying to get the most out of the 14B. The guys who run the place were real impressed that we were getting 250+whp out of it. I've seen plenty of cars with bigger turbos put down smaller numbers. Be proud! :thumb:

Did you datalog the run? How was your timing? Knock count? You still have stock injectors? Are you maxing them out? Tuning may get you more gains than the next bolt-on will but the 2G mani should definitely help. It's my next change too.

Congrats!!! :thumb: Good Job!

thanks for the words guys. 4pistons, the run was on rc 550 injectors. Also, like a complete idiot, I left my pocketlogger at home. Oh well, nice numbers on your setup as well, you even have the same wheels as me;). Thanks again and stop disrespecting the naaaaawwwwwwwssss. j/k
