I recently vibrated my oil cooling unit lose, resulting in $2200 worth of porting, boring, calibrating, reconstructing, and pistons. He is now telling me that my turbo is shot. What is my cheapest way of getting my car back to running condition, as for as the turbo side of it?

Thanks

well depending on the extent of the damage to the turbo itself you might be able to buy a rebuild kit and do it yourself. I've personally never done it but i think a few people on the board have and they said it wasn't horribly difficult. But you'll probably have to take it somewhere to get it balanced and whatnot.

This may be a stupid question...... but.... when I press on the fan like objects (I dont know the tech. name for them), the have play in them, can I run the turbo for about a week under these conditions, until I save some mOula?

I wouldn't recommend it. As tough as it may be I'd recommend you park it and mouch some rides from buddies for a bit until you can raise enough money. As for the cheapest fix for your turbo problems, you can get t25's that are in fairly good condition for fairly cheap.

Hope this helps

thanks for the advice, I ordered a 16G from extreme today and I am now broke for the rest of the year.

Is it true that I need an upgraded fuel pump to support the 16G, or is it just nice to have? Do I need anything to support it?

not to second guess your opinion, but is it an absolute neccessity in order for my car to function properly?

Due to bad luck and poor planning I have all my mods done assbackwards. I was wondering, am I going to have a back pressure problem due to stock exhaust system?
Here are my mods: injen intake w/k&n, turbo xs rfl bov, ported head, magnecor 8.5, .30 bore w/oversized pistons, and 16 G.
