I am going to be building a 1g motor next summer. I plan to build a 2.0 monster, my friend who has way more experience than I do will be helping me.

Okay, now to my question. I decide on a Magnus SMIM. Now when I go searching for prices, they give me and option to pick 89-94 or 95-99. Now I have a 95, but planning to get a 6-bolt, which one do I get??? Sorry for asking such a easy question, couldn't find the answer searching.

So my main question is; do I get a 90-94 or a 95-99 Magnus SMIM, if I have a 95 w a 6-bolt motor???

Correct me if I'm wrong, but seeing as the manifold DOESN'T connect to the block at all, it all depends on what year head your running. The 2g head flows more than the 1g does, so it's all dependant on which one.

Really, I thought it was the other way around. So what you are saying a better combination will be a 2g head and 6 bolt block. I thought the whole 1g head and 6 bolt block was the best combination of them all.

stock versus stock the 1g does flow more. The 2g can be opened up bigger than a 1g(if you need something that big). Some companies claim that the 2g has better flow angle.

Nope, 1g is bigger, it will let more air to go into the engine, 2g has better flow for smaller turbo...So, if you go with big turbo (everything bigger than 16g) go with 1g head.... You could even port 2g...(not worth it)

well it goes off of what you want. the 1 g head will flow more air but the 2g head will creat a little faster spool. so if your goin for all out drag then go 1g but if you want a stick street ride that will still create awesome power but a little quicker spool for around town and up hills go 6 bolt w/ 2g head. just my 2 cents

Oh okay, thanks. I will be a getting the 1g, Im looking for more air to go into the engine. Thanks

Stock for stock, like has been said the 1g head will flow more. Now properly ported, it has been said by many dsmwisemen that the 2g head is better, even when your looking for all out hp. Its not just the size of the ports as to how well a head will flow but also the design of the ports, which is where the 2g shines. If my 7 bolt ever descides to take a walk, I will be going with a 6 bolt block and a properly ported 7 bolt head. To the origional question, doesn't matter the year of the car or the year of the block, you match the intake mani to what head you have on the car.

Okay I understand better now. I probably will do the same thing. Thanks for the idea.
