Ok today i was driving home from lunch and my bypass tube got a tear in it and i cant replace it until monday but i need to drive the car, i was wondering if i plugged the intake boot up and took off the bypass tube and kinda rigged it to an atmosphere BOV would i have any problems ? stalling hesitation? please help i need to go out in a few so any ideas would help

Depneds on which bov u have, a 1g bov WILL NOt work like that u will stall like crazy, trust me i have tried, any other after market bov should b ok, just adjust it so its real tight.:dsm:

theres a way to make 1st generation eclipses have an open bov and not stall. you have to turn up your biss valve and it wont kill but itll have an uneven idle :( by the way... if you have a aftermarket bov will it idle funny?

untrue....some cars can, some can't...our cars are picky like that...i can vent my HKS and my 1g with NO problems...try it on ur car and see what happens..then u'll know...take off the dump tube and seal it with duct tape (temporarily)...

if venting doesn't work, just tape up the dump tube with duct tape.....in fact, try that first..LOL...

Black electrical tape or duct tape should work fine as a temporary repair; however, back in the day, I replaced my BOV return hose with a piece of formed coolant hose (radiator hose). I took the torn dump tube into the parts store and matched it as closely as possible. Autozone, Advance auto, etc.. should be open tomorrow, if you don't want to wait till monday.

Good luck,

what r u takin about when u say turn up your biss..i would love to lose the stall

BISS = base idle set screw ...not valve...pick up a shop manual or chilton's or u can just check this page out, it'll give u the idea of where it is...

sorry i cant really elaborate on how to adjust it...a bit hard to explain...

but keep in mind some 1gs CANNOT vent...its just not possible...some can...if urs cant, just save up and get a VPC if venting is that much important to u...pz

so it is more of a matter of trial by fire? as far as djusting it, what would be the objetove of the biss, i mean would it be to attempt to trick the computer or somethin or just raise the idle, i know i sound kind dumb asking this but the performance shop i go to keeps this as a little secret. and if i found out how to do it it would save me ton of cash!!

This is directed toward everyone except the guy who said to used duct tape (the only smart thing said in this whole thread):
