Basically, I'm running an 8lb flywheel and no balance shafts but my question is how many guys are running an aluminum flywheel and no balance shafts and have there car stall? Is it possible that my ISC works good enough to hold the idle at idle but it can't catch the rpms on downfall that quickly?

Sucks having a car that stalls out and won't restart (due to remote starter/keyless problems). :notgood:

I don't know how all these people have issues with that. (or think that's what it is) I have no B-shafts, a fidanza FW, and a FFWD butcher crank (7lbs lighter).

I've never had an issue with stalling like that. And I KNOW I had an issue with my ISC, because I had to replace it due to the "high/bouncing idle" issues. Since replacing it, I've had NO issues with idle or stall...

Hope you get it figured out. Just thought I'd chime in b/c I've seen these questions so much, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Good luck. :thumb:

The only thing I have noticed is driving through parking lots and having to feather the clutch more. But no stalling really but I do know your not the only one so dont be too concerned. If possible try rasing you idle mines 1050 for example this may take care of it, its worth a shot.

I have a DSMchip and I had him set my idle to 950 (due to cams) which I thought would be high enough. I can't say I never had the problem before the motor rebuild (when the BS were pulled) because I did but it seems like it wants to stall out easier. It's to the point where if I'm coming to a stop, I'll leave it at whatever gear I'm in until I get down to about 1k rpm and then just throw it in neutral.

I'm just trying to figure out where to start at and what not.

I've never used a datalogger (went straight to DSMLink) but if you can, check to see what your ISCPosition is at idle. It should be around 30. What I'm thinking is that adjusting the BISS might help, although I'm not sure which way you would go. See if the position is around 30 first.

edit: I found a thread very similar to this on the DSMLink forums. Apparently the problem is a disrupted airflow signal. This is caused by BB turbos and hard intake pipes. The car apparently will run really rich and then die because of an inflated airflow signal.

I'm seeing like 45 once the car reached about 180 degrees. I'm not exactly sure as to what those numbers refer to either.

My only other guess is to try the old chip (where it didn't do it before) and then if I continue to have problem, install the stock eprom chip. :notgood:

For the ISC, 0 means completely closed, and I believe 255 (or maybe 127) means fully open. When fully warmed up and at idle, ISCPosition is supposed to be at 30 and LearnedIdleAdj is supposed to be around 140. If the ISCPosition is at 45, the BISS isn't open enough, which may be why your car is stalling. Even if it isn't the reason, it's worth fixing since it's so easy.

Some 2G DSMLink members have noted that the problem went away when putting their 97+ ECU's back in, suggesting that there may be something different about those units. Of course, others don't have problems at all.

My car does the same thing, I am also running an 8lb flywheel and no balance shafts. If you just adjust your driving style a bit its fine. I do the same thing BadAssGst does and just slow the car down while in gear until around 1k-1500rpm and put it into neutral. After a while you get used to it and its no big deal. Good luck though.
