Which AFPR?

I recently had my FP solenoid go south, ordered a new one, and was considering purchasing an aftermarket AFPR. I really wanted to get the Full Throttle one that mounts directly to the fuel rail, but it seems they're not available anymore.

So I would like to get a unit that will mount to the fuel rail in some way, or something that is sort of a kit that won't require completely re-doing the entire fuel system. (Read: relatively simple to install)

I know Aeromotive is probably the best, but I am wondering if there were any others out there that might serve the purpose (similar to the Full throttle version).

Here some of my mods:

2G Talon Tsi

Evo III 16G
550s
walbro

size of the walbro would help. I ditched my full throttle for the Aeromotive kit listed on this site, it was night and day for me. I had start up problems with the full throttle unit and I suspect it wasn't raising fuel pressure with boost pressure as I had to run over 10% to the plus side on my afc just to keep timing from pulling (then hit fuel cut.) I also couldnt get my base fuel pressure below 50psi at idle (I have a rewired 255 fyi) With the Aeromotive unit, I am now at a steady 43.5 psi at idle and well into the negatives on my AFC, and the car fires right up when I turn the key. So happy with it.

I havent really heard of any others having the problems as I did with full throttle unit, but full throttle insisted it had to be something else in my fuel system. Seeing as how they didnt make them anymore I couldnt exactly swap one out so I ditched the unit all together. Have never been happier.

Go with the Aeromotive IMO. Just remember to install the stiffer spring that comes with the kit, and buy some yellow teflon tape instead of the supplied white....white is only rated to be used with water, and will turn to swiss cheese when exposed to fuel, yellow wont.

Great words of advice! thanks for the info..

Just curious, what was the part# of the kit you referred to? I recall there was a kit that had normal style fittings (brass barbs etc.) and rubber fuel rated hose, vs. steel braided hoses and Aeroquip style ends.

Also, where did you find the yellow teflon tape? I have never seen it in the local hardware store.

Thanks again!

Shouldn't it have been closer to 33.5 at idle?

I bought the Import Evolution Aeromotive FPR kit. Install was very easy. It uses the barb fittings with the rubber fuel hose. At one point I put my fuel pressure up to 75 psi (to check for leaks) and found none. Very solid kit.

Typically with the vac hose off, set to 43 psi, whith the vac hose on, ~ 38 psi. (per the things I have read.)

Thanks for the info. that was the one I was considering.

I have the Full Throttle and it works perfect for me. I am runnign a 255hp though it is not rewired yet.

I bought it for the exact reason you want it. It bolts right up and looks nice.

Last I checked stock base fuel pressure is between 43 and 43.5 psi. I could be mistaken though.

I bought yellow teflon tape from OSH (orchard supply hardware)

Here is the exact link of the exact product I bought. One thing I would do over is to spray paint the yellow connectors, brass pieces and the aluminum bracket black, then the unit would be a bit more difficult to notice.

That is correct. However, at idle with around 18 to 20 in/Hg of vacuum, the fuel pressure should be around 34 psi. (2in/Hg is about "-1 psi") I should've assumed you meant with the vacuum hose off, but you know what they say about assuming...

I myself am looking to get one. I saw these megan racing onhttp://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=4056es on slowboy. Anyone know anything about them?
Try this

There are a few threads regarding this. Search for them and you will see that they are not a complete kit at all. None of the fittings work and need to be replaced.

Starting my 3rd season with the fullthrottle/importE model, cheap/simple and works great! mark
