OK, so my old fuel pump went out, got a walbro 255 to replace it. On the cover thats in the tank, theres a copper line with a pipe fitting on the end to hook to the pump, I kinda bent that up taking off the old pump. I got it straightened back out, it looks a LITTLE out of round, I'm not sure if that'll make any kind of flow problem/difference or if I should hit the junkyard for a replacement.?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

p.s. i'm planning on replacing the rest of the fuel line with a larger s/s line sometime in the near future, also thinking about a new fuel rail, any advice on if those become necessary/worth the $, around FP3065 and up territory?

Yeah, that line is a b!tch to get out. Did you round out the one that comes from the fuel pump bracket, or the actual fuel line going to the rail?

I'd start looking for a replacement -- those lines aren't getting any younger or stronger, and you might have opened up a pinhole leak when you chewed it up taking it off.

You could always hook it up and watch closely for leaks, checking fuel pressure regularly, etc. but I'd err on the side of caution and find a replacement. A fuel leak can be very dangerous, as I'm sure you know ;)

Yeah, its the line inside the tank going up to the cover. Another thing for the next junkyard run.

Any comments on the fuel rail, or if the lines going from tank to rail are going to get maxed out? FP3565 or 3065, probably run NOS sometime down the road also.

To hazard a guess, I would say that 95% of DSMers never need to upgrade their fuel rail. You won't need to start thinking about upgrading fuel rail or lines until you are pushing more than about 500-600whp. At that point, you'd want to go Fuel Cell anyway.
If I recall, Slowboy reported that one of their shop cars was running over 700 hp on the stock fuel rail.

So....I think you'll be good there for quite a while. Haha.

Ya when I did my fuel pump, i kinked and cracked that line. I also broke some of the studs holding the cover on to the tank. So I had to find a whole new tank and sending unit :(

If I were you, I'd start looking for a replacement. Check junkyards and for people parting out their cars, that's how I found mine.

Just in case anyone was wondering -- all 1g AWD fuel pump brackets are interchangeable (and so are all 1g FWDs for that matter). So you don't need to worry about looking for a specific year. Just FYI :thumb:

Like he said, though...Find someone parting out their car. These are usually very reasonably priced parts. I think I saw one at a junkyard for $40, but I ended up getting mine for 15-20 bucks off of a local "community DSM parts car", haha.

If you really can't find one, I'll send you my old one, but I don't think you'd want it, it's pretty jacked up. :notgood:
