hey whats up everyone? ok so heres the deal, I just rebuilt the motor in my 90 plymouth laser turbo. after getting everything back together i took the car for a spin, it runs and idles great..so much better then before. The problem is that at sometime before the rebuild, the intake cam got crewed up really bad and i didnt want to put it in my brand new head. I used a N/T cam instead. I read both good and bad about using a N/T intake cam in the cars, but i tried it anyway. The car drives normal, but lacks the power it had before. It just seems like there is no power at all. the car build boost but falls over itself once the boost starts??? could this be because i am using the non turbo cam shaft? would that cause the car to fall all over the place and hesitate like it does? WTF
let me know if anyone has experienced anything like this, or has any ideas for me. Thanks for the space, Tim :laser:

did you boost leak test at all? thats almost what it sounds like.

as for the nt cam, i wouldn't use it really. just doesn't make much sense to me to use an nt cam in a turbo head unless the duration on the lobes is a little longer, but it that were the case, it would only add power.

just pick up some comp101100's or another lower level street cam. but if you havn't leak lested i'd try that.

also, did you break the motor in right? or is it still being broken in?

before i put the new head on the car, i had put around 850 of "break in" miles on the motor. I had originally bought a "rebuilt" head on ebay and ran that for a while. it turned out that the valves were bent slightly from before because i had low compression (around 110) in each cylinder. I have not yet done a leak down test, I will probably do that early this week. as far as the N/T cam, I am just running that until i get my turbo cam. thanks for the response. I will post anything i find out
Tim

i may be incorrect, but dont the N/T cam shafts have a little bit different timing profile than the turbo cams? I dont think the N/T cam I am running in my car is from a 90.
