hi i was was just wondering if the smoke that is coming from my turbo, due to an oil leak in the compressor, would in any way affect the function of the o2 sensor? the oil might have gotten on it as well but i am not sure yet.
thanks for the help

If you have an oil leak in the compressor side of your turbo, you shouldn't be concerned about the O2 sensor. What you should be concerned about is finding a replacement turbo, since yours will most likely die soon. Oil leaking past the bearings of a turbo usually means shaft play, which will destroy a turbo with time. Check your turbo for shaft play.

A little oil on the O2 shouldn't affect it because of the amount of heat in the exhaust tract at that point will probably burn it off.

do you think that the burning oil could affect the readings of the o2 sensor?
thanks again

just swap your turbo, t-25s are on ebay new for 250$

I just got a t3/t4 for my nt project for only 100$, it looks to be in good conditon

It shouldn't have a noticeable affect on your o2 sensor unless you think there is soooooo much smoke that it cokeed up your sensor, which I highly doubt.

And I agree on getting another turbo. It's obvoiusly worth the upgrade to a good used 14b now:thumb: .

all this talk about upgrading to a 14b, i have a 1g gsx, it came with a 14b...LOL. you guys must think i am a 2g. anyway, there is actually a lot of smoke and oil, so if their was a senario where your o2 sensor would get choked due to too much smoke, this would be one of them. i always had problems running rich and a high injector duty cycle on my 14b with 750cc injectors, do you think it might have been caused by the oil and smoke, and also my fuel trims would always change. this is just a guess of mine but i am not sure if oil burning could be read or picked up by the o2 sensor, so dont bash me.LOL
thanks for the help,

there is a chance that you couldve contaminated your o2 with the high volume of oil although there is no easy way for any of us online to tell you until someone personally inspects everything (your job ;) ) now once you do that you can get a better idea of whats going on. 750's are insanly big for a 14b. im running 720 with a 50 trim! either way you are going to be losing some weight pretty soon..out of your wallet that it. :p

Dowt! That's what I get for looking at every one else's posts and not looking at the obvious...

But, arash15 has good points you should take note of nevertheless.
