How Do I Remove Cam angle sensor off my 98 head?

doing 1g head swap and cant figure out how to remove it. all it does is spin freely but it doesnt come loose. i alrady removed bolts holding it to head so do i need to remove more or open it up?

that doesn't make sense :confused: first of all take off the 3 screws and remove the plate, now you will see this 8 or 10 mm bolt, remove it now it should come off.

finally got it off. the housing was spinning freely. yea i held the cam gear bolt with head and it came off. also i cant get the damn cam gear bolt loose one bit. any tips?

Those usually stick pretty good. If you look on the cam, there's a spot where it's square so you can hold the cam still with a crescent wrench while you pull on the cam gear bolt with a breaker bar. Don't let the cam spin if the head is still on the block. Any cylinder that have pistons at TDC could result in bent valves if the timing belt is off and the cam spins, engaging the valve train and forcing the valve into the top of the piston.

You generally have to pull the valve cover and there's a spot to grab the cam with a wrench and hold it in place. I usually just use an impact and have someone pry the gear to keep it from spinning if the valve cover is still on, but in your car it will be off anyways.
